New Drugs tabs at top of page

I see we now have a couple of Drugs tabs to refer to at the top--one for brand-name drugs, one for generics. Rose, are you able to see this? And is this what you remember having before?

I'm asking because I didn't use it much before and have only a dim memory of it. But when I looked up my MS drug using the new tab for generic drugs, it wasn't there. I looked under 3 possible names for it. The brand-name drug appears if you use that tab and that name. As it is still in use by quite a few people, it seems to me that glatiramer acetate should appear on an FDA list of generic drugs (?).

agate, I just read your post and my prescription for Eletriptan (Relpax) was setting beside my laptop so I tried to find it. It is not listed. I wonder what causes a drug to be included or left out?

I'm wondering that too, jingle. It would be ideal if every drug currently available could be easily findable here. It's a question that comes up very often--someone posts about an rx that is being taken or considered, and people like to look it up, check it for adverse reactions or drug interactions. Or we look up drugs we ourselves are taking or might be taking. It's information doctors and pharmacies don't always give you.

        agate & jingle ~

The FDA links we have now are not the link we had with our old format. That link was from the National Institutes for Health (NIH), and it included all drugs by brand and generic names. It was very easy to use and extremely thorough. I relied on it heavily during all my years on BT.

I used it for my sons and Jim, as well as friends and family. I also often looked up drugs, when members described symptoms, to determine whether those symptoms could be drug-related. In many cases, the drug in question did have adverse side effects similar to the member's symptoms.

I think Mike stated that he was having trouble finding the NIH link, which is unfortunate.

As I explained in the Missing Links thread here, I can't reduce the size of my typeface without compromising my vision. So, I won't have access to the Drug links, or any other links.

        Love & Light,

        ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I Googled "National Institutes of Health prescription drugs" and was taken to a page that looked very familiar. I entered the generic name of the MS drug I'm taking, just as a test case, and was taken to this information. Am I on the right track, do you think?

            Thank you,
agate --- I easily and quickly found lots of information. I wish this could somehow be made sticky.

Thanks Agate! :) I found the old link (the NIH one) and now we have that up there too :)
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

              Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

Mike, I meant the NIH -- the one you just put up for us. Many thanks.

                    You win the prize! YAY!

You found the one we had prior to the platform change!!! Awesome!!!

Since I can't see the links, I will just say that this is the only one we need, and any others can be removed. I have been to many drug information sites through the years, and this one is the best. It's complete, easy to understand, well organized, easy to access.

                    Thank you agate!
