California Poppy seed for pain control on Dr. Oz show....

Hi guys...I was just watching a rerun of a Dr. Oz show and he had a guest on who touted the use of California Poppy Seed extract for pain in place of the opiates many of us take. Very interestingly, I tried to order some online and most of the big online vit sites are out of it with backorder months away. I called my local vitamin store and she said since that story aired on Dr. Oz they have been out of it but she was kind enough to offer to put me on a waiting list. I have no idea if this stuff works but am going to try it once I get it.

When I get some I will let you know if it works. I was actually planning a drug holiday from my daily norco because my liver is acting up and was looking for something to help me during the transition so the timing is good.

    Hope all is well, Donna

Diandra, thanks for the info and I hope you get to try it soon. Please report on how well it works for you but I have serious doubts about it. I think it could work for normal pain that people have but I know my pain levels are many times greater than they used to be before developing chronic pain. I have been getting dental work done lately and my dentist and assistant are amazed that I don't use any numbing for getting my cavities filled. The amazing thing is my spinal pain is so much worse than the dental pain so that it is no problem for me to deal with the dental pain. It would be nice to have something like poppy seeds to provide pain relief as strong as as opiates.

Hi Mark...I know what you mean about dental work. I don't get novocaine either and it makes my dentist nuts. I am not saying this is a panacea, just very interesting and inexpensive enough to give it a try. Take care, Diandra
