Belbuca (buprenorphine buccal film 300mcg ?

My "pain nurse" at the VA recently up my dose of Belbuca from 150mcg twice daily to 300mcg twice daily. At first, the 150mcg twice daily worked pretty well. This was only a "honeymoon" effect. After about the first 10 days or so, it wasn't working well at all. I told my nurse, and she said she wasn't surprised. She said a lot of people experience this "honeymoon" phenomenon, and she promptly doubled the dose. Now, after taking the 300mcg dose for about 3-4 weeks, I seem to running into the same thing--it's not working all that great. I take a 300mcg dose and it just doesn't help very much. Anyone here taking Belbuca? Please tell us of your experience. BTW, I'm taking it for cervical spondylosis, neck pain--partly due to arthritis and partly due to a tumor rapped around C-5, C-6, C-7.
    Thanks so much.

I'm just another person with a neurological problem (MS) but you should probably get off the Belbuca if you possibly can. It's an opioid and can be addictive. Also it interacts with hundreds of other drugs. Your doctor may have prescribed it only after trying every other possible drug but I hope you will ask your doctor to review your use of it.

It must be very difficult to put up with so much severe pain. I hope that a better solution for you can be found.
    SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Thanks for your reply. There's really no way for me to not take this med.

Perhaps I should explain further, in case we missed certain details in my original post. In addition to the arthritic neck, I have a tumor wrapped around my cervical spine. They actually diagnosed multiple myeloma for a brief time. After lots of blood work and a biopsy of a tumor next to my esophagus, they decided I do not currently have cancer. They have used the term "pre-cancerous", for what it's worth. There is a third tumor. It's about the size of a BB, located at the top of my right lung. I had been taking 10mg doses of hydrocodone for many years (since 2011) to help with the pain in my neck, but it provided very little relief once this tumor in my neck came along. So, I'm well past the point of concern over being "addicted" to narcotics. This is my life. On a lighter note, they're again using the term "pre-cancerous" to describe an anomaly with a valve or "duct" at the top of my pancreas. Fortunately, this condition isn't causing any noticeable symptoms. A specialist did offer to perform a rather invasive procedure using a scope sent down my throat and into the top part of my pancreas. He warned me, however, that this procedure was likely to cause a bout of pancreatitis. I chose his more conservative option--closely monitor the situation with an MRI every six months. I was just hoping to find someone here who is also taking the Belbuca. Anyone?
        Again, thanks for your reply.
