Mark, glad you have ways to ease up the pain. There is nothing worse than not being able to get a break from unrelenting pain. I am sorry to hear you are facing another big surgery. I can barely gear myself up for procedures anymore let alone a big surgery. But we do what we have to and when we have to. I Hope that is still some ways off for you and your other modalities help for awhile!*

I went in to see my dr and told him I didn't want any changes but I did want to get my increased pain recorded as when it came time to have my thoracic fusion done insurance denied me because I had one visit with my OSS and got scheduled for the fusion. What they didn't know was I dealing with thoracic problems when I was heading into my lumbar fusion. My OSS and I agreed that my lumbar was causing me more trouble and pain at that time so the lumbar fusion needed to be done. My OSS left it that I would monitor my thoracic issues and when I was ready for the fusion I would come in for evaluation. When he evaluated me I was ready for an emergency surgery as I was quickly losing all function from T8 down and in danger of paralysis with even a small jolt to my spine. So now I record any major changes so I don't face that rejection again for a needed surgery.

Right now resting, heat, massage, and the granddaughters help keep my pain from skyrocketing out of control even though it is definitely worse.

Pain95 who says there isn't any justice in life:). She doesn't want a child and he has a toddler at 60, I feel sorry for the child as at high school graduation his dad will be in his late 70s.
She SAID she didn't want kids but I warned him that he better do something permanent because I knew she was just saying that to please him. I also had a feeling that there would be a quick pregnancy after the wedding. BINGO. He loves kids but didn't want to start over again at his age and I can certainly understand that. Even more sad, I doubt that he will be alive when the child hits high school. I think I'll just keep my own problems, thank you. They seem a little smaller now.

          Hey Mark,
Have you tried Lidoderm patches? They work good for for localized pain, I use them on the knots in my ribs and on my elbows and knees. They can be used for 12 hours.
If no pain, no gain is true, where is everything I should have gained?
DDD, Fibro, CFS, pain for 20 years. ADR c 5/6 Feb. 2018 doing well.
Back to pain management, fibromyalgia getting worse.

Lil E, I have used them in the past but it has been a while. I will keep it in mind if the massages don't get the job done.

As a update- the massage has done a good job on my muscles and has relaxed a lot of knotting in my muscles. I am still struggling with my left are shoulder and elbow along with my cervical spine but at least the rest of my back is in decent shape or at least better than it has been for a number of years. I am still dealing with a lot of pain but not the pain that makes you wonder why you are still living.
