Not Really Pain Related...From Diandra

Hi All,
Just wanted to say hello to all my CP friends on the forum but especially those here on the East Coast who have suffered from hurricane Sandy. We were without power and heat for almost a week here in CT and then got walloped with a snow storm yesterday.
Still, that is not as bad as many of the folks in New York and New Jersey where it is a disaster of epic proportions. A friend here in CT had water up to the 2nd floor of her home. It is heartbreaking.

My pain levels have flared badly and I assume it is from the wild temperature and barometric changes. We lived without heat or elec and that coupled with just sheer stress did not help pain either, I assume.

I hope everyone is doing OK. Would love to hear from others on this issue of increased pain and storms.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers, especially those hardest hit from these storms.

Diandra - ANY kind of storm sends me into a bad flare - I indeed feel for you. Having lived in CT. under simaler circumstances, I can empathise with your situation. I have found any change in the weather hurts - out here in the desert is MUCH better then florida.

Diandra, sorry to hear you have so much more pain to go along with what is going on in your area. The snow storm was just another slap in the face after dealing with the hurricane. I hope you get some electricity soon as it has to be cold right now. I know what it is like going without electricity as we didn't have any for two weeks after the Typhoon when I was in Guam but at least it was warm there. It is good to hear from you and hang on as they should have the power on soon.

Diandra, my heart goes out to you. I get very scared whenever the power goes out during a storm (which isn't very often in California).

I can only imagine how horrible it must be to be in such cold weather with no heat. My pain levels would spike under all of that stress, too. So sorry to hear about your pain spikes.

My heart goes out to ALL who have suffered from this terrible storm! I hope things get better for everyone soon.

My heart goes out to you and the thousands and thousands that have been effected by this storm. My husband and I have friends and family in Ocean City, Md. thank God as far as we know all have faired fairly well.

My pain is also effected by the weather I understand this is common, common or not it doesn't help.

Hope that life gets back to some form of normal for you soon..

Hi All,
Thanks for the kind words and support. It is greatly appreciated. And sorry for the long delay in getting back to everyone. After the storm, it took awhile to settle out storm damage and get back to a normal life. Plus, we are just finishing up the renovation of our basement into an apartment for my elderly Mom. I just went up to Boston last week to select the furn and items she wants to bring here and again another stressful week physically and emotionally clearing out a home she has lived in for almost 60yrs. While I was there, the the furnace died and we had a toilet back-up so I kind of feel like, Good heavens, what more can happen!

The positive side of all this is that, when things are bad, they sure do make you appreciate the good times. Just getting lights and hot water back was a delight. And to be warm again, boy your realize how much tensing your muscles do when it is cold. It really wreaks havoc with your body. Also, it is interesting(but sad) to hear that many of you also get a flare of symptoms when there is a storm. I used to think I was just nuts but it happens not only with storms but also when I fly and the barometric pressure changes.

I think Alex has the best solution, live in the desert. Again, good to hear from all of you. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
We took the easy route and went out to a restaurant....how lazy! but it sure was good.
