Has anyone else experianced a differance in how their medication works? I talked to my doc and rold her I had noticed a distinct differance between Mallencroft ( I hope I am not violating TOS by naming names) and ethex or endo. The Mallencroft seem to take forever to work. My Doc, whom I discussed this with, said it could be the filler, as I also get some stomach upset with this brand. She said there are like , three differant kinds of fillers, can't remember what they are , but suggested I ask the Pharmacist to order me a differant brand. When I asked the Pharmacist , telling her my doc. had suggested that I try a differant brand, she agreed to but was plainly not happy about it., I do not feel I am out of line to ask for something that could improve my levels of pain control. anyway, Thoughts?

PS: I removed some rude comments BUT I am So tired of people judging me, They do not have the right. Even our Govenor,(AZ) who ignores the will of our states Votors.
Thank you - I am trying to stay within TOS and not make this political. I am just tired of Beurocrats making decisions for me - I am PROUD to be a part of this great country, I just am tired of Gov. BS.

Alex, that brand has a reputation of not being as good as the other generic companies. I know in the pst the amount of active ingredient has been on the low side of acceptable and the fillers don't agree with a lot of people. I don't know specially about MS Contin but it was the way for other morphine drugs and my pharmacist even said they had problems with that company, at least back 6 years ago.

Thank you for the reply Mark. I wondered why my stomach was upset and then remembered s good while back I had rhe same experiance with Mallencroft. I wa in a flare when I wrote the original post, Hence my reason for edititing out , as I said some rude comments. Pain can do that to you as I am not in the habit of lashing out at people, but when that Pharmacist gave me "The Look" when I asked for a differant brand, this after being told by my Doc. to ask, well, you get the picture. I am probobly one of the most compliant Cp patients a doc could ask for, I am tested every visit, always clean and what is supposed to be there is. Hope this finds you and yours well.

PS - it also takes forever to kick in - as far as it lasting 12 hours, that is a joke, If I get 8hrs. I feel lucky and with my Doc's permission have adjusted the timing of when i take it accordingly.

Alex, I understand being upset when you get the look. Pharmacist and doctors work for us and need to remember that. I know they have a responsibility to keep people from getting meds they aren't entitled to but they need to remember people that are CPers with legitimate prescriptions don't deserve to be looked down upon.

Thank you Mark. If I were a heart patient or something like that, I would not get the look. In Washington State, it is my understanding that doc's will NOT be allowed to prescribe more then 125MG. of Narcotics a day. Thats a bit less then what I take. This is BS - beurocrats , i SAW no mentionb of doctors having any input.

This is in addidion to our own state, where Medical MJ was legalized - but the gov. (Jane Brewer) is tying it up in court so no dispenseries can open. What BS. I personally do NOT smoke, but i respect that our voters approved it for medical use and you have to prove it with a year of Med. Records. so now , eveyone can grow there own. What a wonderful world.
