    It's sad....NPR

    I can only repeat....It's sad...

It is like watching a town die....I know that the world of Chronic Pain did not suddenly find a cure for all ill's...so...where did everyone go...All those people...that once lived a friendship with me...and with so many others...through these forum pages...where did they go...I miss so much in my life, already...Where are they...I miss you....I miss talking to you....and I miss someone talking to me....

I know....I have written down....THINGS CHANGE....because my whacked mind...forgets...and thinks things remain the same...but it is never brought home to me more...than my multiple visits here a day...to find...No one...no companionship...no steadying force...to respond to my foaming at the fingers...

    But....

I am haunted...by the ghosts of my love...

For so many I once lived a part of my day with...Alvin...Delta...Jaymie..Nancy...Mary...Moos e...Jo Anne...Ray...he reappeared...but others..too many to count...so many names...I know....I know...just letters typed upon a screen..an illusion...of life...but those letters formed people to me...hearts and minds...played out by their fingers....and the willingness to share...lives lived in a community...that gave comfort to me...and so many others....

The loss is heart rending...so many losses in my life...in our lives...and to lose this too...I am not sure how to grieve....for a something....a family....my own fairy tale...we read it together...written by so many....always a new chapter...new pages...some kind of connection...some distraction....

    And now...

I wish to be aware...to see the change...formed by coming together....again...I know...it can't be the same....it can be different...

Won't you come to my 'house' and visit with me...share your troubles...share you laughter...share your pain...I am alone...mostly....yet I am not lonely...there is Nature to dwell in...but when I come to my favorite spot...out here amongst the denizens of the web...I feel very lonely indeed...

Tell me a story...of you...I will talk to you...I will share my heart...I will hold your hand if you are in need...I will even cry with you...I will certainly laugh with you...and oh....I will wish with you...because I know about wishing...because...I am wishing YOU were here....

    Blessings on us All.........

    dear hummer !

    yes. things do change.

first, i'm going to invite you to post with us in the emotional support forum. all our members came back when the forums changed their look. we have people there who have chronic pain...you might know houghchrst.

but, i'll talk to you here for a while, because i understand your loneliness. maybe i'm not your friend now, but maybe i can be...

the forums weren't down long, maybe 5 days? a lot of people were unhappy with that. maybe they did not come back because we all had to start from the beginning...no former posts with already started threads, no post numbers carried over. who knows? but you are right, it can't be the same, but it can be different and we could all still be together. i do hope all those people decide to come back, sometime. i hope they come back because they feel as you do, that they miss their family here and they miss talking to them everyday and they miss the support they get.

i read your beautiful post about where you live...just outside a city but tucked away among the mountain trails. i loved your description of the trees you see outside your windows. i hope when autumn comes you see the beautiful, vivid colors.

i read that your husband has put prayer flags along the mountain trails. would you be so kind as to tell me what those are and what they mean to you? it sounds like a peaceful, serene tribute to the land.

i live in detroit. i'm sure you've heard of us. my colors are coming from the garden i am replanting in my yard. 2 and a half years ago the sewer pipe broke in my yard from my house to the city sewers. the pipes were made out of clay and tree roots grew through them over the years and weakened them. finally, they just broke and water started backing up into my basement. my yard had to be dug up with a back hoe about 7-8 feet deep and 60 feet long. a new, thick plastic pipe was put in. then it was covered. i had to wait until the ground settled...then i could see where the high and low spots were in the yard. i have had tons of dirt brought into my yard to level it. now that its level around the edges, i am starting my base planting around there. it's going to be a long project, but i can wait cause i will learn about all the perennials i am now planting.

i have 2 dogs, nick and nora. nora was a dog we bought, she is a german short haired pointer and nick we took in as a stray when we found him scared in our yard during a summer thunderstorm one morning. nora loved nick right away. he recognizes she is the alpha dog, but he doesn't care. we all play fetch in the yard , sometimes even in the winter if it isn't too cold. nora has to wear her doggie hoodie sweater, because she has such short fur and she's a thinner dog. nick is shorter and a black lab/rottweiler mix. he has a thick black fur coat and i think he loves winter, cause he is finally cool and comfy.

well, i have to feed the dogs. i planted bulbs today, because it was a beautifully sunny day, finally, after a week of showers daily.

i do hope your friends come back...and maybe you can make some new friends among some kindred spirits.

take care of yourself and it was nice talking to you,
    jeannie

      Dear Tic chick....

How very...very...lovely that you would share with me...It has been an incredibly long day for me...I had guests...very rare occurance...my two sisters...I thought...just then...they are the only ones left...I used to have 2 more...they came to watch sports with my husband...My sister travels a long distance to see my mother...she must have wanted to watch the sports event...quite a bit...as she usually does not go far from our mother when she visits...It was nice...very unusual...for me...an abundance of female energy...when usually I am the only female in a crowd of testosterone....

I did too much, though...and now my spine shall be keeping me awake...but unable to sit at the computer...for many moments more...I just wanted to thank you.....I will answer your question....but there are a few days of electrical storms...headed this way...I have had to turn the computer off for most of the day...I told my sister it was good she has a big truck...in case the road washed out...

Oh I am writing every thought...I am tired and kind of yelpeeey....

Sweet rest....sweet dreams...and Blessed Love to all Beings...from my heart to yours.....

        Hi hummer :)

Yes it is indeed very sad to see how inactive BT has become.
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

        Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

          Okay....Mike Weins....I am really laughing...

I wrote paragraphs and rivers of words....

          And...

          You said everything I meant...in one sentence....just 13 words....!!.....

Well, Mike Weins....you can sure tell you are a busier person than I am...I am still laughing....

          Tic Chick....

I have thought of the kindness in your response...so much...It isn't that I am a lonely person...I like being alone...I function very well alone...it is only when I come here...that I feel lonely...I want to find my friends here...and they aren't here...I was dreaming of what this place was...long ago...many years before the 5 days of being down for the switch...to this new software...

I don't count very well...my brain injury is very apparent when dealing with numbers...so I could care less about how many posts I have or the date of when I first wrote...I can't remember the date of my own birth...and have to write my phone number down on a piece of paper in my wallet...along with everyone else's that I may need to use.....

I don't understand why that is important or even an issue...compared to what was gained by switching to upgrades....it certainly wouldn't be the thing that made me quit coming here....I would never expect someone to go through...each account...and re-enter...how many posts they had before...I am not a computer genius but I do understand software has formats..and they are all not compatible with each other...my computer is so old...I get reminded of that frequently...but I sure am so happy to have it...and to be able to come here....

I love dogs...we worked at a ranch where a dog that had been abused showed up...and stayed...he too was terrified of thunder...the bravest dog...and then would become a quivering...shrinking mass...trying to crawl under my skirts when there was thunder...he could scoot into any open door so fast...and no getting him out....

He had really long hair, too...he used to get it shaved in the summer...before...he would be so lethargic and then the haircut...the owners...would shave his body...but leave a trail of fur like a mohawk down his spine...so it wouldn't burn...then shave just parts of his head...I always thought of him...in the summer...as a Punk Rocker Dog...He was my best buddy for many years...then he got hit by a Utility company driver...the man was so devesated...he came sobbing to our door to tell us...I felt bad for him...and my husband and I cried some tears too....Dogs love you so much.....in some ways...even better than people...they are so unconditional....

I have to get ready for an appointment....I know this post is not about pain....but it is my spot...and I guess I have an attachment to my spot....It is where I know some people...and if others ever come back...I want them to find me...

I keep a mailing address...that I have to pay for in one spot on the planet...so that I can always be found...by those I have loved...my husband thinks it is goofy...as sometimes we have lived so far away from that address...I had to have someone collect any mailings....but to me...It is good to know...I can be...in that one spot...and that those I love can find me...

So...I will post here...until this place gets lost to us all...or I am gone...because...from this spot I will make friends who understand me...and from this spot...I will be here to offer understanding...to those who may not find it anywhere else....

          Blessings on us all........

Hello Hummer, great to see you posting again.....

I have brain problems myself, remembering things for one, but I think you used to post under Spinal Disorders; under that main catagory is Pity Party Room, and I thought you'd post there. Does that ring any bells?*confused We still have our old crew plus a few new people. Hope you'll stop in for a visit soon. It's a bit slow right now; people getting outdoor work done before snow flies

Cute response from Mike......fast too!! I can't get anything to work on the upper toolbar, change font etc. and some I just don't understand after all these years. I hit A to change font color, puter freezes, have to hit 'undo'. What the heck is a subscript/superscript? Probably could ask SO but after working on puters all day he's usually not in mood. Plus his is superspeed where at home is dialup.....quite the difference, and he's no patience. No, Mike you don't have to reply to my questions; you've enough to do.

I'm sorry you lost your pooch, hon. Very hard to go through. I rescued a Australian Cockatoo Parrot from nasty owners. Even wrote short story about her, thought of putting in "Pet Therapy"...will see. Now have a strayed cat, at time was 6 months who is now 7. She's light of my life. Learned she is a 'breeders' type cat called 'Manx", smart, more prone to acting like a dog then cat and she does Should have waited to name her.....some many come to mind one of them being Velcro

I love almost all animals......as pets. Not prone to spiders/snakes but have gotten close enough to snakes when I had to kill them; they were in wrong place/wrong time.

How have you been feelin' Hummer? Can't recall if you said you were married, kids etc. Brain has very large leaks Pretend lots of rain from this cloud<G>LOL

Well, hon, today's my pain day so hope you'll stop in the Pity Party Room......believe me we don't go on and on complaining, we talk about everything/anything, have lots of fun, hum. Take care hon, talk again soon, you talk again soon too

Have a great weekend......to everyone here too!! hugs, kat

It is good to read the stories here as we have lost the personal touch it seems. I agree about the lost of your dog as I still mourn the loss of my Golden Retriever General. I would love to have another one as they are such loving dogs needing human attention. The problem is that I have too many lost days where I sleep for 24 to 36 hours and I couldn't care for a dog any more. Pets, no matter if a dog or cat, just sense how we are doing and seem to know what to do to perk us up. I know my dog knew the days I was hurting more than usual and would leave me alone except to lay down next to me. Days I was able to do more he would demand more of my attention. My daughter would dress that dog in all kinds of outfits and he would just go along letting her do it. He love to dress up for Halloween and greet the kids when they came to the door. The best costume was when my daughter dressed him in a black cape and witch's hat. The kids loved it when they came to the door and wanted to spend time petting him. He was such a kind and gentle dog our nephews that are terrified of dogs asked us to bring him to family gathers as he would let them play with him and they never worried about him doing anything aggressive.

I remember coming home one Easter Sunday when we got the baskets and candy set up before going to church. We came home and all the chocolate candy was gone but the wrappers were left on the table. Another year we came home and found chocolate bunnies missing ears. It was funny when our son was just four and would carry a sandwich to the table with General trailing him hoping he would drop something. So many times Tyrel would end up missing the meat from the sandwich as he got distracted and General saw his shot. It was an incredibly sad night when we put him down. It was hard watching him decline from cancer but even knowing he couldn't even urinate without our help it was hard to be with him when he died. My daughter cradled his head as he slipped away and despite how sad it was I wouldn't have let him die without us around him.

              Thats my story for tonight.

I have no stories tonight, brain just doesn't want to put anything out I guess. It does that sometimes now....since CP at least. I guess our lives can be measured as before CP and after CP huh.... I try not to mourn before too much though, as I do have a good post CP life overall! Of course I really don't have much of a before CP life, I have always been in pain. Even my mother used to say it.

sigh.....for one who didn't have a story I short rambled enough! LOL!!

Like others I do miss the old hopping forums. Where you had to check frequently just to keep up! I can remember the pity party room in Spinal Disorders racking up 5 or more pages in one day! But I have hope that many of those have went on to better things, active lives and such. I pray noone is sitting at home and not coming here because they are afraid of coming back. I want them to come back and know there are still people who care here, who are in the same boat!

                Ok, I'll hush for now....

Oh, hummer, your post said what many of us have been thinking, at least I have. I do check in here occasionally, only to see the same old threads still at the top of the list because nobody has bothered to reply...It is sad, and I sure miss the 'good old days' when, as Melanie said, you had to check in several times a day just to keep up with what was going on. In fact, I had at least two people who contacted me after seeing my email address in my signature in the old Spinal Disorders Forum that I actually steered to the forum to join us, one was NC Dude, and the other was marijo. I know she was around the forum fairly recently before the crash. She was a wonderful addition to the forum! I have so many folks in my memory that I used to feel 'close to'. One by one, almost all of them have gone away, for various reasons, I'm sure.

hummer, I have to take leave right now myself to put clean sheets on the bed, but, don't worry, I will be back to 'chat' some more.

                  Gentle hugs, Jacquie

                    Oh...Lovely Beings...Thank you.....

Puddykat....I have never posted at the spinal disorders...though I have one...I went and looked a bit...and certainly there are 'finger walkers' there in that spot...even now...

No children...no pets...Husband doesn't want either...I have lost count of nieces and nephews and greats and their buddies grown now...that claim me as Auntie.....more than 50 now...my favorite title...one neice calls me Fairy Aunt Mother...what a title...I smile when ever I even think of it...much less hear it...or see it when she writes to me....

We had a few Manx cats at times over the years...long haired no tails...just tufts...mostly came up from the river wild...they did act more like dogs...one used to walk the perimeter of the property with me...such a strange little beast...some one stole him we think....He was beautiful....and crazy....he would just go at a dead run...and run right up the side of a stucco house...hang there for a while...and drop...only cat my husband ever liked....

We have always had horses...not now...but mostly in my life...I used to tell the cleaning ladies who came to help me...not to take down the spider webs in the windows....My sisters...were always out with the flyswatters...flys all over in their house....mine...none...the flys went to the windows...and the spiders took care of them....

Mark N....I lived in a compound...my house and the landlords...close together...the landlords worked in Oceanography...Marine Biologists...and were always out to sea....or the far reaches of the planet....they had a golden retreiver...and when they were gone for months on end...I cared for the dog....smart...smart..smart...and sweet...

I always wondered if she would protect me if someone bothered me...or just lick them to death....and then one time I felt threatened and shouted....and boy...I learned that dog...loved me....for she certainly protected me...she doubled in size from her hair standing on end...and she definately had very big sharp teeth...and her growl would have done lions proud...and the person it was directed at....put their hands up...and began explaining themselves rapidly...eyeing that dog all the while...

To have a beloved pet die is so painful...and to have to choose...is a great compassion....but...so hard....how loving of your daughter.......

Melanie....You will never get the hush signal from me...!...Once I get going...there is no telling when I will stop....I have a teacher that asks me to write to her...not something I always want to do...but to keep in contact with the process of my study and practice...I will write...I never think of length...I just finger talk until I am done...or said it all....

Until...one time I had to print out one of my e-mails...to discover it was 18 pages....18 pages...!....Oh my gosh....I was mortified..because I was pretty sure that wasn't the shortest message I had ever written...but she said she reads fast...good thing....and she still tells me to write to her....but wow....especially knowing the importance of her time allowances...

I hope people aren't staying away because of fear...If you are reading my words...you know there is nothing to fear here...I try to live my life...without judging...I try.....

Smiling Angel....I think I saw Marijo...post a message some time back...if she was the same one from Australia...This place has been such a blessing to me...but...it taught me too...that I need to be careful in thinking that things stay the same...because they don't...

I still have trouble with that...my expectations for things to remain....especially if it is important to me...but that isn't the way the world works....impermanance is the reality....nothing stays....everything goes...how our hearts have come to learn that lesson...

Each moment is new....so...I pray...each moment....a new friend will find this place...and discover a need that can be met...by companionship...and compassion...and love...offered by those who dwell in these pages.....who 'know' of need.....

                    I too...must stop...sitting is over for me...

But....I thank you all so much....for responding to me...for giving me...a need...a wish...a connection to you....

                    Blessings on us all......

Hummer, your time with the oceangraphers must of been interesting. I used to joke that General would attack them or lick them to death but I knew he would protect anyone in our family and scare someone to death. Having a 125 lb Golden Retriever with a deep bark would make anyone back up. 14 pages of email is a lot of talking going on:).

Melanie, it does seem we have two lives - preCP and after CP. What a difference our lives become after having CP. I have wondered how it impacted my kids so I asked them from time to time different things to see the impact. They grew up with dad having major spinal surgery every three years and being limited in what I could do. I asked my daughter as she was close to graduation if my disability caused her to miss anything. Her answer surprised me until I thought about it. She said "dad you have been disabled my whole life"; but to me I remembered the times I wasn't disabled. It is just that from the time she was 3 I was having major spinal issues and having major surgeries as she was growing up. It gave me a different perspective on my life.

Smiling Angel, marijo has found her way back to the Spinal Disorder forum.

Alex, if you are lurking on this message please join in as I know you have tried hard to get people back involved with this forum.

The thing that is so hard for me to accept is feeling bad so often. My pain often causes me to feel sick so not only do I have pain but I also feel like I have a cold most of the time. The pain I can deal with but the feeling bad gets to be a real drag. Pain should limit what I can do but I should be able to feel decent most of the days and that isn't the way it is for me. Like the pain though I put it on the back burner and focus on the good things I get to do each day.
Right now we have been having wonderful weather and the trees are just starting to show colors. In our area it should be another 3 weeks before we get into the real color show in the forest and hills that surround our community. The hills are beautiful when the trees are changing colors. Too bad it is such a short showing as it would be so nice to see it for a month or two. I guess the short time it happens is what makes it so beautiful though.

                        Dear Mark N...
The time I spent living that close to the Ocean...was amazing...I have always lived in wilder areas...living on the beach...was an experience of being in masses of humanity...living right on top of each other...but then you just had to turn your head...and the horizon was vast and mostly empty...but certainly...FULL of Nature...every tide...the beach was changed...just like the rivers I grew up near...every flood the river banks were different...but to have the beach change...from one tide to the next...was astounding...and then the seasonal changes...too....became apparent...

I lived for my toes in the sand....and the dog...the golden retriever....lived for finding something dead on the beach and rolling in...WHY WHY WHY became a refrain...Ugh...Oh but she would chase tennis balls endlessly...into the sea she would go...over and over...until you had to quit throwing....for her exhaustion was so apparent...

The Oceanographers....started my great rock collection...where ever they traveled they would bring me back some interesting rock...being marine biologists...you wouldn't think of them and rocks....but those two covered the planet...and lived in remote outposts....to this day...when someone goes on a trip...I tell them to bring me back a rock...I have a bit of the planet's...Continents and Islands...in a pile in my living room...It is interesting to see how different rocks are...from the geological formations of Earth around the globe...

The CP thing...I have my brain injury added to the spine...memory loss...some returned but for years...in therapy...my reference...was Her...and me....That woman from before...who everyone remembered and I did not...who was so favored by so many...even my husband...and the me that was left...the afterward...the...this is what you get instead...So many years of therapy...and council...and yet earlier this year...I spoke to a Lama....of my husband...at an early point in my recovery...looking at me and saying..."I miss you.".....He was talking about Her...to me...!....I didn't know how much that still wounded....until I realized I was weeping beyond my control...gritting my teeth together so I would not howl like some injured beast....He wasn't trying to be cruel...or thoughtless...he was sad...and trying to find Her...in me...and failing...I think he still had hope then....

Time passes....and you adjust...as best you can...I am thankful...always...that my husband loved Her enough....to settle for what ever part of Her...was left in me....but the hope is long gone...

Children though...it doesn't matter to them...because they want us for the love that we have for them...and cp doesn't change our ability to Love...I think it may actually inhance that ability...it adds compassion in quantities...I feel sure...we didn't have the same realization of...before.....Love and Compassion...hand in hand...is very powerful.....and I think....we don't get stuck in the small stuff...we have big awareness of what has true worth......

The pain...just sucks...that cowboy saying...I've said it before...it's off color...'It sucks hind teat...the one closest to the a$$hole.'....cause not only does it suck...it has stench....pretty graphic...but it's about right....

Yesterday...My husband drove my mother and my sister and I....on a journey...to visit another sister...who bought a home years ago...that I have never seen.....and her daughter moved nearby...whose home I have not seen, either...I thought...okay...I am going to do this....HA....I endure the trip...but upon arriving...there is no where that I can sit...that works...I think of that posting a while back...about pain...worrying about a place to sit...that place of reprieve...NO WHERE...it became an agony....and then the hours of the journey home...at least my spine was okay there...but my neck injury just wasn't happy....my hands are kind of numb this morning..I have a nerve pinched...I have tried working it out...but not so far...But hey...it hasn't stopped me from typing pages....of frothing at the fingers....

You are right....in the focus on what is beautiful....I spent the day...in the home of my sister...visited a bit up the road with her daughter...saw a baby from another one of her children for the first time...and she is already walking...and I have memories...to take out again...and again...like the photographs I took...of spending the day...making children smile....What is better than that...It is pretty good for shoving pain to the back burner...a more than fair trade....for the sound of their laughter...and all those toothy grins...

The daughter whose home I went and visited...when I had my accident....she was a little girl...she really really loved 'Her'....she wrote Her letters every day...for almost a year...little crayon drawings with big fat words...one of her drawings...she drew me a special chair...made out of clouds so when I sat in it...it would be soft...and I wouldn't hurt...

So now...as the new day begins...
I am going to go crawl into my 'cloud' chair...and recover from my yesterday...

                        Blessings on us all........

Yes John, it IS a shame. i did try to get people to post. Maybe, I was over the top but since i have been around a LONG time, as I am sure you know, I felt i could get a little pushy, I simply tried to motivate people. good luck with that.
                          Blessings

Hummer, you are so right about golden retrievers fetching until they are exhausted. It is as if they are so eager to please us they will keep going no matter what their condition is. Of all the breeds I think they are the breed most in tune to humans as their life seems to be focused on us. I know our two were members of the family in a way our other dogs couldn't be. I swear General thought he was a person just like the rest of the family. I do know he would mourn if we left him behind on a trip and finally we had to take him everywhere we went.

Your story about you and what you have lost due to your brain condition really hits a nerve about how CP has impacted my life. Thankfully I haven't had anyone in the family comment about missing the person I was. I know your husband wasn't trying to be mean but I do know it had to hurt tremendously to hear his sorrow. I wondered and asked my kids if they missed anything about me before my spinal condition started. Both kids said that I have been disabled their whole life so they haven't known a different person as I have been physically declining their whole life. I do wonder about my wife though. I know much of our marriage problems over the years was her missing me and concern about how much worse it can get without being able to express it that way. So instead of hearing her loss like you did with your husband I heard her anger and frustration. Every once in a while she would tell me about her fears of my/our future, such as I am big enough could she help me get around if I get to the point of needing that help. She has seen me that helpless from time to time and it scared her that I could be like that all the time. To make things worse our condition impacts our spouses and any issues they have get magnified IE my wife's depression and anxiety really get stressed as a result of my decline.

I agree with you that pain and disability enhances our love for the people around us and I also think it can make us more understanding of their needs being so aware of our needs. You have nailed it with children. I am seeing that with my children but now that they are grown I really see it with my granddaughter. She doesn't see me as the disabled grandpa but the one that talks to her and shows her things letting her explore the house and yard while "leading" me around. Children do see things in the now and not how things were. Once they get to the point of looking at how they were they make the transition away from childhood.

You must have quite a collection of rocks. I wish I could study the rocks in our area more. We have a massive limestone foundation as our area was a prehistoric ocean and many shell fish formed then limestone formations. I have a friend that does rock hunting and he has found several fossils in our area. Time to wrap things up but it was nice talking to you.

                              Dear Alex...
                              Blessings to you....If I could give you anything....May you...in this very moment...find ease of mind...and heart's peace....

                              Mark N....
I have a thing for dogs...and they seem to have a thing for me...That dog...was so human...I swear you could speak and it understood language fully....living near the ocean...sand fleas were epidemic...just a horror...Walking in the streets you knew people who had dogs..just from the scent of the flea dip given their dogs...wafting past your nostrils.....The dog wasn't ours....but in our care constantly....we didn't allow her in our house....nor was she allowed on the huge outdoor living area.....connected to our dwelling...That was our NO DOG zone...in defense of keeping fleas out of our house...She knew her rule...and would lay down at just at the base of the deck...and rest her head on the step...giving us the longing look...but she never came up...except once....

She constantly was getting sprayed by skunks...when the owners were gone we would take her to the groomers for the tomatoe juice bath...the only thing that got rid of the eye watering stench...One time when the owners were home...she got sprayed and they didn't tend to her...we came back from a walk on the beach...to find her dog brush sitting in the middle of the step up...onto our deck...We laughed...but because the owners were home didn't feel we should haul her off...the next time we went out...we came and the grooming brush...was all the way across the outdoor room...resting up against the door leading into our house...so we know she came on the deck....she followed us and stood at the edge looking at us...but still we felt too weird about taking her away when her owners were home...

The next time we came home...Living at the beach...along with the sand fleas...was the sand...at the edge of our outdoor room we had a wooden box...We would take our shoes off and leave them in it...too keep from having sand all over in our house...Well...the dog...had left us a message...the line between what was considered the space we rented...private to us...and the space that was the landlords....private to them......there....right at that spot...no way to get around it...was a large pile....of all our shoes...not one scratch or chew mark on them...so she was careful....and perfectly balanced.....resting on top of them all...was the dog's grooming brush.....We laughed so hard...and immediantly went and talked to our landlords....and took the dog for the tomatoe juice bath......She was soooooooo happy....

I do have a great collection of rocks...and geologically....the area I was raised and live in...was an ancient sea bed...fossils abound here...my husband has brought me back wonderful fossils...full clam shells...and curved snail shells...so many others...some so perfect...I can't believe he found them...I would always ask...him..where did you find this...His response for most of them...."Stepped off my horse to pee."

One time he went with a group of men....to scope out a site where some of them were going to be hunting...as he left...I said..."Bring me back a rock." He came home with a 50 pound fossil...!...I couldn't believe he carried it...He said neither could the guys he was with...it is a huge curved snail fossil...it is 16 inches across and about 12 inches deep....it is broken...so it had to be even bigger...and there are multiple fossils...of other little creatures and bits of coral embedded....

He said he had to keep asking them to lift the small pack....up on his back....when they stopped...it is an awkward shape to have resting against your spine...for the miles he said he carried it...but...it is pretty astounding....and a conversation when someone comes over....especially little kids...for them to see it.....

Well...I am done flailing my fingers... for this visit...and it was very nice of you to visit with me....I was getting very 'bummed' at the 'lonely halls' of chronic pain....thanks for talking to me...and taking me to a place where pain...for a while....rode in the back seat...while I wandered around in my mind...plucking out moments to share....

May our day bring us all....Blessings...and sweet graditude...and always....Laughter....
