Went to get Ultrasound and MRI - When both Urgent Care and the Local CBOC call you the same day you get the tests, I'm Scared. As in I need to live for Today, not yesterday (spend WAY to much time there), and not tomorrow, it's not guaranteed. will know more later.

Typically, if there is an untoward finding in test results, your physician is notified, who then contacts you to discuss the results. Do you have a primary care physician? Or did Urgent Care order your tests?

Thanks to all that responded, To generalize things i will put everything here: Yes, I have consulted with everyone (Gastro, Primary, etc.). It is not good. As I suspected, from the reports I got, I have cancer of the liver (the same as my Sister in law died from) and am very scared. I will be talking to my Psychiatrist tomorrow and to a radiologist later this month- they may want a biopsy to confirm - Only way that will happen is for me to be OUT. I have very mixed feelings about this whole thing, as in, I am very much on the fence about treatment options. Having seen what my SIL went thru, I will have to discuss with doctors and shrink about options. Thankfully, This was caught early enough (I Hope) that I will make it thru. My faith is STRONG, I want a lot more years, we will see. Again thank everyone for your prayers, please, keep them up.

I am so very sorry that you have this diagnosis. Did you speak with your psychiatrist today?

Based upon my experience with Jim's cancer journey, you can expect several tests initially including a CT scan, an MRI, and possibly a biopsy. Your medical team will be lead by an oncologist, and you will likely have many appointments with the oncologist. Your team will also include a hepatologist, who specializes in liver issues. Be prepared for regular blood draws.

If you are going to have chemo or immunotherapy infusions, I recommend that you ask for a port. Jim had a port placed in his right chest below his clavicle, which was used for all infusions, blood draws, and transfusions. Relying on IVs for these things can result in veins collapsing, turning or giving out. Jim was very glad that he had a port. It's placement is a simple procedure with mild sedation, and it was done as an outpatient. As were his biopsies. He wasn't given a general anesthetic for these; typically, he had Versed as well as local anesthetics to numb the area.

Tell your doctors everything about your health history, because treatments can cause side effects. Keep a list of questions for your doctor(s) to take with you to each appointment. It can be confusing and stressful, so it is easy to forget.

Be well informed about everything related to liver cancer, treatments, medications, and side effects by researching on the internet. You can check here on BrainTalk under the Drug Info link at the top of the page for medications. Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the better you will be able to make decisions and advocate for what you want and don't want.

A cancer diagnosis is shocking, Alex. You are feeling what every cancer patient feels, when they first hear the diagnosis. The best thing you can do at this point is prepare yourself for everything awaiting you. And, start taking better care of yourself with a nutritious diet, reducing whatever stress you can, resting, and boosting your spiritual connection.

If you need a nutrition supplement, I highly recommend Orgain, which is an organic plant based nutrition drink/shake/etc. Far superior and safer than Ensure or any of the other "hospital options."

Your medical team should include a nutritionist/dietician, a palliative care nurse, and a social worker. If you need help with social services or home health, these are the go-to team members.

Jim did as well as he did most likely because he took CBD capsules. His oncologist agreed that it was the one thing separating Jim from his other patients, which he was now suggesting to them to take. He couldn't "prescribe" it, but he encouraged it, as well as THC for nausea and pain. Ask your oncologist about it.

Rose - God Bless You- Thank You - Right now - see the time - I woke uo in a nightmare and am now in a panic attack - I am trying to cope - The Covid Vax - that I had had VERY mixed feelings about has been putting me thru it - My arm is Still sore, I got the Cancer Diagnosis by E-Mail, ThE (VERY BAD WORD) VA FOR YA, and then i had an an appointment with, get this, a VA assistant to my VA Shrink, who assumed we were friends and spoke to me as such, she got the "Song and Dance" , I got left feeling emotionally *****, I am still in shock, Thank You, ALL of Y;all,

Please practice this breathing exercise: Inhale through your nostrils to the count of 4; exhale through your mouth to the count of 8. Concentrate on your breathing, and repeat this 3 times, or until you feel calmer.

Do you have a friend or loved one in your circle, who is able to help you through the bureaucratic maze to get the care you need? You need an advocate. Try researching the following on your computer: hospitals in your area, cancer specialists/oncology in your area, VA hospital/medical care support programs. Are you on Medicare also, or Medicaid? See what they have to offer to help you, if you have either or both of those.

Start searching and making phone calls to find out what kind of assistance is available to you. I know that it is too much for you to manage right now, but, if you invest in time spent searching for help, you may find it. Clearly, you can't expect it from the VA, as it is now, for you.

Everyone - Thank You =Rose, Thank you for the info as well as the Breathing Exercise, it is helping. Yes, I do have both Medicare and Medicaid - I will start the process on Monday - Thanks for the good advice. Houghchris, Thanks, this forum and I have a few friends that I am close enough too are my support system, what and my Furbaby Smiley the Cat. I made it through this morning, spent most of the day in bed due to Covid Vax, bones and joints are aching headaches and fatigue -dreading the second shot but I will get it when due. Blessings to everyone in this forum.

I am so sorry that you are suffering so much with adverse effects from the vaccine. Which vaccine did you have? If you need a second dose, that is usually when these adverse symptoms occur. You might want to consult whichever physician you have the most contact with (a Primary Care Physician, if you have one) to ask if you should have the second dose after you've had this reaction.

I can't find much current information on line about cancer patients and the post vaccine reactions, but I would guess that you are vulnerable to them. I base this upon Jim's reaction to his first pneumonia vaccine. We didn't know it at the time, but I'm sure he had cancer then. And he was in an RA flare, the worst time to be vaccinated.

Are you taking anything to help reduce the joint and headache pain? Tylenol or an NSAID, like ibuprofen? Your first call tomorrow might need to be to your PCP, but I'm praying that the symptoms subside for you very soon.

Drink plenty of water, and if you have something like Gatorade, that will stabilize your electrolytes and might reduce the headache.

I saw a doctor discussing the side effects from the vaccine and he said they believe that those that suffer from the side effects from the first shot may already have some immunity and that first shot is kind of doubling up the virus, and if you have side effects from the second shot you may not have that immunity until the second shot.

Alex I hope you are going to enjoy the weekend. Try to get outside, spring is coming and here it is going to be nice out after a cold week. A perfect first day of spring. I am glad you have support. Rose has some excellent ideas. Maybe meditate in the sun if even for a few minutes.

When is your MRI scheduled? Do you have any neurological symptoms, like headaches (aside from that associated with the vaccine), dizziness, blurred vision? The doctors may just be checking to make sure that no cancer is present and will use this MRI as a baseline for future ones.

Continue meditating and breathing, as this will be best for your overall well being. Jim's doctor told him that he should avoid stress. Well, that's impossible, when you're fighting cancer and having tests and treatments. Waiting for test results is anxiety-producing. So, we have to consciously focus on calming techniques to reduce our stress.
