    Earthing

Has anyone tried any of the products meant to ground you to earth so you lose your constant electrical charge?

I'm just curious if it is all hype and placebo effect. :)

I might make some grounding straps for my shoes and see if it works with a multimeter.

I don't know about electrons flowing into us through the soles of our feet, but I do love being barefoot. When my neuropathy was severe, I could not be barefoot even in the house. Now that my neuropathy symptoms are better and I have more feeling in my feet, I again love being barefoot in the house. Outside the surface has to be smooth - a bumpy surface can sill be painful. The last time I was at the ocean I was able to walk barefoot in the sand and shallow surf - that was a joyful feeling. Maybe that increased my seratonin. How we feel and what we believe can change our chemistry.

I'm a fan of bare feet too, but I rarely go outside with them bare. They've got sheets that you can ground as well as other things. The only reason I found it interesting is because Dr. Briffa posted about it and I usually agree with him.

Maybe the reason people feel good outdoors in contact with the earth is because they're outdoors.

I like Dr. Biffra too. I had the pleasure of talking with him last year on Jimmy Moore's Low Carb Cruise.

Never ever even heard of this! I love being barefoot and rarely wear shoes indoors and often walk around barefoot outdoors in the summer. I have no idea about the validity of the theory.

My son's physical therapist has told me about the earthing pads. He has used them and has found them helpful for pain and fatigue. I have had a "disconnected" feeling in my lower legs for weeks now. I do not feel grounded and am considering if a pad might be helpful.

I was at my daughter's graduation Saturday. There had been a thunderstorm in the morning and so things were getting pretty muddy with all of the foot traffic. I had a desire to take off my shoes to go squishing thru the mud to get grounded. I knew that would not be socially acceptable though. I saw one lucky toddler in a pink dress making mud pies- she certainly did not fuss during the ceremony.

My feet are very sensitive so I do not go barefoot much except when I am at the beach.

I'm going to get a multimeter and see if going barefoot in the house actually grounds you. I have the feeling you need to be actually touching the ground. Maybe I'll make a cheap trial device, like a wire ankle strap and run the wire out the window into the ground and see if that does anything for me. I can wear it to bed... although I can see myself getting tangled in it. Or maybe I'll tape it down to my sheet using conductive tape.

Good thing we don't get much lightning here!

Be sure to take some pics to post here. A video on YouTube may also be good. If you get a lot of electrons, you may look like this

Seriously, even if it is a placebo effect, it is a very real. Don't discount the placebo. An example, antidepressants work no better than placebo in those with mild to moderate depression. I think I have experienced a placebo effect. Ever since I have been told I do not have blockage in my heart and that what I am experiencing is not immediately life threatening, I have felt much better.

I can't even get a good placebo effect going! I wish I could. I try supplements all the time and swear none of them do a thing for me. :p

                      Hi Nancy,
Maybe you can find which supplements are better by using your multimeter and setting it to ohms (resistance). That way you can get an objective measurement - just don't ask me what it
                      means.

This article says that touching the earth is soothing, anti-inflammatory and helps keep your blood flowing.
