Good article about the case of Steve Cooksey against the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition. This board tried to limit what he could tell people about diet. Apparently according to the NC Board only general advice about diet is ok to give. You can say "eat more fruit and vegetables", but you can't say eat more fats and fewer carbs and your blood sugar will decrease. Guess it would even be illegal in their eyes to tell someone how to eat gluten free.
There are other states that have these restrictive laws. Glad to say that a number of states refused to pass these regulations that give the AND a monopoly. If these regulations were passed throughout the country, could then go after books too?
