((((((HUGS)))))) To All ~
If you depend upon:
Social Security
Medicaid
Medicare
Home Health Care
Food Stamps
Veteran's Benefits
then warm up your fingers and compose an email to send to your Congressional Representatives and Senators demanding that they protect these programs from severe budget cuts.
When Congress returns this week, negotiations will commence regarding "Grand Bargains" to avoid the "Fiscal Cliff" in January 2013.
The above programs, along with others upon which you may depend currently, are on the federal budget chopping block. They are bargaining chips between the two parties. That means that we are the pawns.
The other giant bargaining chip is allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire on the wealthiest 2% of our population, thereby increasing their tax rates to reflect contributing their "fair share." Since the 2% pay a much lower tax rate than the rest of us pay, it would certainly be refreshing for them to bear the burden for once, instead of piling it on the backs of our most vulnerable citizens, who are in the greatest need and have the least resources to meet those needs.
Why should seniors, persons with disabilities, Veterans, and the poorest among us bear the brunt of the mistakes our elected officials have made in managing our economy and our country? We shouldn't, but we are always the first place they look to cut funding.
Given that the majority of our Representatives and Senators are multi-millionaires, thanks to insider trading among other sneaky deals, they should volunteer their service to our country and pay for their own health insurance, like the rest of us have to do. But they never seem to be the targets of any budget reductions or cutbacks, and they are just fine with their lifelong benefits and the lower tax rate they pay, so we can't expect any charity from them toward us.
Remember that our tax dollars pay their salaries, and that we elected them to represent us. We are their Bosses.
Let's BE their Bosses and tell them exactly what we expect of and from them. Let's remind them that they work for us, not the 2%, the lobbyists, or the corporations.
This isn't about who you voted for. This isn't a partisan issue. This is a people issue, an American issue, which directly affects you and your well being if you rely on any social service programs at risk of reduced funding.
Send an email to your Representatives and Senators and tell them the impact that cuts to these programs will have on you and your loved ones. You can find their email addresses at this link:

If we don't speak up, they'll never hear us. If we don't fight, we'll lose.
Love & Light,
Rose
