I kind of inherited a tradition from my Ex MIL if you can believe that but I picked it up about 25 years ago. Bacon Cheese Dogs. Lots of fat and things not good for you but it is only once a year, so the dogs, some hors-d'oeuvres and some snacks. This year I will be making the dogs but not so much the sides and snacks. I barely made it through Christmas dinner lol.

A Healthier & Happier New Year
((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~
Chris ~
I've heard of a variety of New Year's Eve food traditions, usually involving peas (black eyed peas are especially popular) to bring good luck in the new year. This is the first time I've heard of bacon cheese dogs. Are they supposed to bring you good luck in the new year? Definitely not something to eat all year long if you're looking for good luck.
Searching my memory bank, I can't recall a truly "Happy New Year" celebration. Many years, I celebrated with Jonathan or Michael in ICU. In the past few years, Jim and Jon were ill.
When I was a single Mom, the boys and I would watch the ball drop in New York City on TV at 9 p.m. Then I'd tuck them in bed. Once they were asleep, I took a bubble bath, dressed up in an outfit I would have worn to a party, full make up, hair done. I lit candles to welcome in the new year, opened a bottle of champagne (but only drank one glass of it at midnight), munch on the snacks I'd made, and watch the ball drop again at midnight.
Just because I wasn't invited to a party, or to dinner, or anywhere didn't mean that I couldn't celebrate. So, I had my own party. I was young, and I don't have that inspiration within me now.
While leaving 2020 is a blessing, I am not looking forward to 2021. COVID will be with us for awhile, so it's just a continuation of that. But our political landscape will change, and that is something, which I pray will help all of us heal from the trauma of the past 4 years. I am hopeful that we will have unity, peace, and we'll start working toward saving our planet again.
Here is to a New Year filled with changes to our betterment and well being.
Love & Light,

Rose
