    What are "Celery Roots"

I have a recipe that calls for 4 celery roots & slices. Is that "stalks" including the root too?

i googled this to make sure so here is what I found - a big fat round piece of vegetable. It looked so ugly it was comical to me. I have never used it I guess. My first thought was the celery stalk. Didn't know anything abouts roots at all. There was one or two places that showed how to peel them. They did look sort hrd to handle. G00od luck. If anything turns out good, tell us about it.

Lor,I'd think the recipe had an error. I chop the bottoms off the stalks & toss them! who would want to eat the root? I also wish you luck with whatever it is you're attempting to make.

I forgot what it was. But I just chopped up a couple of stalks.

Celery root is in the same family as the celery we eat but it is not the same thing. One answer I found in Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register... is ........
"Celery root is an edible root in the celery family, looking like an oddly shaped turnip. Brown and lumpy the stalks are not really edible because all its energy is put into the root. Celery root is used in soups or stews and can be roasted."
They are ugly things .... once in a while my small local Walmart has them in the produce. I've never considered buying one.
