Camcorder charge on laptop question!! Help!

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you are all having fun with your gifts. So I got camcorder as a gift and it is a MILLION TIMES BETTER than the old one I had! The sound and visual quality are AMAZING! And get this: All you have to do to turn it on is open the LCD screen. The touch screen on it is something I will have to get used to because it has been years since I have used a touch screen but the screen is really big so my spastic fingers can actually press it and it is easy to read. I have not tried to transfer it to imovie yet which will be the real test but if I can't transfer it via USB it is still compatible with another video transfer device that I have so it shouldn't cause the kind of issues I had before. The old one had a software that didn't work so I was never able to use it because I couldn't get the footage out. What a nightmare that was.

Now here are 2 important questions that came up while I was having fun with the camcorder. The camcorder can be charged by connecting it to a laptop. If I charge it on my laptop,does the computer have to be on or off? Can I use the internet and do stuff on the computer when the camera is charging or not??

I also had a question about memory cards, if I delete all the footage off the card can I keep reusing it? It uses SDHC cards. Or do I have to change it every so often????? How do you get the memory cards back out of the tiny slot? Please help! The instructions for the camera don't say anything about these things. I guess they figure people would already know the answer but I don't LOL.

Hi Funnylegs4 - Just happened to see your post and thought i could provide some answers.
1. As far as I know, yes the computer has to be on to charge your camcorder.
2. yes, you can do anything you want on the computer while the camcorder is charging.
3. yes - you can delete the contents from a memory card and reuse it.
4. As far as removing it, I am not sure, I believe you can grab hold of it or there may be a small tab that pops out when the memory card is inserted that you can push to have it eject.

Thanks for your help A. I just got a 16GB SDHC Memory card so I could film something that is long on the camcorder. I need to get the other SDHC 4GB card out. Is there a special way that I need to grab it?????? I'm kinda afraid that I will damage the card if I take it out the wrong way. There doesn't seem to be a tab to pull.

Sometimes a little "playtime" with our gadgets can show us more features and expand our ability to use said device. Glad you figured out the memory card.

Thanks you guys, after experimenting I found out that I had to push the memory card down and it pops right back out. I also found out that the camcorder records audio in WAV files and that the camcorder has a setting where it records only sound like a digital recorder! So you're right "playing" really helps.
