Phyllis, lupus is not an easy diagnosis. and there are 2 types. one is worse than the other. hopefully she has the "better" kind. she will count her blessings,be thankful for the beautiful child she does have, and learn to adjust to her life with lupus. you have a big heart Phyllis,so just keep being supportive & try to be positive.I would hope everyone that knows her is understanding! she probably doesn't want sympathy, she wants to be accepted in spite of her disease.

my friend has been shunned by many people thinking it's "nothing". made me furious so I always defended her & tried to educate people on what she was going through.

She hasn't been feeling well forever, so, they did a bunch of tests, which,..........

unfortunately, were positive. This didn't just, start. It's been going on, a while,
      now.

          my prayers for amy, also.

thank goodness they have treatments for lupus now and you can lead a fairly normal life. my separated husband's cousin had it back in the late 1950's. she died at age 16 and her mother and father never got over the death of their only child.

              phyllis,

rheumatologists deal with all kinds of autoimmune diseases, that's when the body starts attacking itself (tissues, joints and organs) for some reason.

that would be the right specialist to see .

Knowing what's going to happen to her body, when, she's younger, than, me!
                ( I'm in my mid 40's.) Also, she has a beautiful 4 year-old little boy. :(
Again, thank you for taking the time to respond!
