Caillou, My Little Parrot, Has Died

Some of you know of her....I've written about her before.....

Caillou had been very ill for a little over a week. We went to the vet Thursday morning---I have an excellent avian vet. She had a through exam and blood work (results won't be in until next week). She was very thin, had lost a lot of weight. She had a crop infection, and we went home with antibiotics. I made her some oatmeal, which she loves--the doctor said to encourage her to eat--but she barely touched it. We cuddled under my blanket, Caillou on my chest. After a while, she whimpered, and began to breathe fast. I held her close and said "I love you" and kissed her. Then she breathed her last. I'm heartbroken.

Caillou was such a special, dear little bird, and a wonderful friend. I miss her terribly.......

So sorry about Caillou,, our pets hold special places in our hearts, they give us companionship and love. Filling our days For many years, they are our family.I think having you close to her when she died was the dearest love .
You gave her comfort in her last moments, she went in a very peaceful way , wrapped in your love.
I know you will miss her . ((( hugs))) , Ging

oh how i know you are hurting inside for sweet bird. birds are wonderful. when i was a kid we got a yellow canary from someone. His name was Trigger and it made me laugh to think of a bird with a cowboys' horse name. roy rodgers in fact for all you young kids. birds are wonderful pets and I hope you can consider getting another one at some future date. i know another will not be the same but i can vouch for how much fun NOT having a pet is. I am without a pet now for about 2 years. if hubby and my health was better, I would have something and soon.

I can picture him perched on the arm of Jesus and telling Him how loved he was with you. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about Cailou, I am fairly new here but Do know how heartbreaking it is to loose a wonderful and true freind. last yr I lost my Service Dog ( a Rottie) Hera to Mast Cell cancer. She has tumors all over her throat and towards the end I had to make the heart wrenching Desicion to have her euthenized :( I cried for weeks and my siezures got alot worse( also when my health started to really decline) I decided I HAD to get another dog if only to fill some of the hole in my heart hera's death left me. Sasha ( my 1 yr old white lab) is a wonderful service dog, best freind and companion. I would hate to think what I would do if I lost her too :( my heart goes out to you.
