    hey everyone ,

well, i called julia today and she is fine. her computer and her hubby's computer are both not working ...so that's why she hasn't posted and why i didn't receive an answer to my email from her hubby.

we've had 2 gorgeous spring days, sunny and upper 50's! the mud in my yard is drying, there are still some spots that are really muddy, but most of it is just like normal dirt after a rain has fallen. a little sticks to my shoes, but the dogs go everywhere, so of course they still get mud on their paws! we spent an hour outside today. i was carrying some thick branches of wood to the sidewalk so they can start drying and i can saw them into firewood for my fire pit. some of the wood is already dried out well, because it's not very thick and when i break it, the branches just snap easily. so, one more nice morning and part of the afternoon and then we have a good chance for our first april shower! back to the mid-40's on wednesday, though.

i had a great zumba class today. i always feel more relaxed after zumba...actually, i'm tired as heck . i will sleep good tonight and my mind is less frantic.

now don't fall for any tricks tomorrow ...lol. it's april fool's day and you never know what's going to happen, do you ....

thank you for sharing and caring ,
    jeannie

Did I really last stop in on March 1st? Wow. And in a 1/2 hour it will be April 1st? Wow x 2.

So much is going on where do I start? Just good to see you all that's all. That short check in to let everyone know we're here even if we don't have much to say.

There's comfort in that you know? Oh well I'm getting all sappy and it's late. Just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking about you.

      Love,
      Sly

Thanks Jeannie for checking in with Julia. Now I don't have to worry too much about the missing people. People have checked in. Thanks again.
        Take care,
        Dawn

Me too. It's still chilly here...raining today. I'm hibernating, me and the birds.

                  hey everyone!

joy , i am so sorry about donna. you have been such a good friend to her and i'm sure you've made a difference in her life. i hope you get to see her one more time. my thoughts are with her and her loved ones at this time.

hey cloudsz! glad you're still hanging in there. i hope it's getting a bit warmer where you are. fig, sorry it's still cold where you are. sunshine perks up your mood. i hope you have a sunny window you can sit at with your birds. hey dawn and sly! nice to see you checking in.

yesterday was such a beautiful day here. mid-50's and really sunny! i did some clean-up work in my yard, raking up a few leaves and sticks and putting them in a yard waste bag. they won't start picking up yard waste until the first week in may, so i'm sure it's going to get wet and i'll have to slip it into another bag later, but i just wanted it in a bag.

i see all kinds of signs of plants in the yard. the irises are the first to get going! their leaves are poking through. the tulips in front are a couple inches high. i see new growth from the sedums my neighbor gave me and the carnation plant my daughter gave. the lilacs are getting buds. everything seems to have survived the snowy winter we had.

it was so wonderful to be in the yard with the dogs! nora was pushing her brick and nick was under his lilac bush! i feel so peaceful working in the garden. time flies so fast and i had to come in and start dinner at 4pm. i see some 50's and mabe a 60 or two coming in the next week! the ground is dry, finally! we're supposed to get rain this evening and into the night. april showers bring may flowers !

thank you for sharing and caring,
                  jeannie

                        hey everyone !

my mom fell out of her bed at the nursing home and broke her femur bone close to her hip joint right in half. she's in the hospital, getting pain medication, but it's barely controlling the pain.

i have been at the hospital since 130am today i have talked to an orthopedic surgeon and a staff doctor. i have also called the social worker for her hospice. the question is whether i consent to the surgery. having surgery and not having surgery seem to have pretty much the same outcomes in terms of her functioning. pain would be present in both situations. i've talked to my sister, who wants to do the surgery, but i haven't gotten a call from my brother yet as he might be on vacation, since this is easter week.

i'd just like to ask for your good thoughts and prayers to ease my mom's suffering and for me to make a wise decision.

thank you all for being here and caring ,
                        jeannie

I'm so sorry about this. Of course my prayers and thoughts are with you and your mother.

Surgery seems like a big stress. If it doesn't promise a huge positive result, and if she'll be more or less the same with or without it, I might be inclined to say no to it.

Oh Jeannie, I'm sorry about your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with her and you. I know that you will make the right choice. Falling takes a total on older people and if they aren't mobile after the surgery a blood clot becomes dangerous. Keep us informed please.
                            Take care,

                                hey fig and dawn !

thank you for responding and for your prayers.

my mom went home today. she is getting morphine every 2 hours. she only screams when they have to change her or move her so she doesn't get a bedosre. then she's ok. it lasts less than a minute, but it is very hard to listen to her be in pain. i never wanted it to come to this.

i declined surgery. the doctor on staff who is part of my mom's team at the nursing home held my hand and told me i made a reasonable decision considering all her problems. she is the first doctor that said that. the orthopedic residents come in and they're all young and eager to do surgery. just because you can doesn't mean you have to. another doctor on the staff told me mom would have to be cleared for surgery by a cardiologist, too. she has severe heart disease and i would feel even worse if she didn't make it through surgery.

all in all this sucks. there is only one good thing to come from this and that is that i have a good chance of bringing my mom home to die when the time comes and not let her die alone in that warehouse.

thank you all who are reading this or have read it.

thank you for sharing and caring, my emotional support peeps !
