    What foods started here?

We just came back from the "German-American festival" in town. Theres other _____-American festivals at different times too. Usually the foods are the star, like beer, brats, kraut & ___ were today. I like the Hungarian-American festival best cuz my grandma used to make all that food & now I make Kifli (Hungarian cookies) each Christmas like she did. That lead me to think, What foods come from America with American roots not another country?

Was stuffed roast turkey started in America? Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

Cranberries, blueberries, pumpkins, pecans, green beans and, of course, Mooseburgers for a start!

Those all aren't native to America, I believe. Jan, What's a mooseburger?
I bet that though they say "as American as apple pie", apple pie didn't start here?????
Did pumpkin pie start here? Think of Thanksgiving foods

green bean casserole? (not green beans) .... greenbeans, mushroom soup & french fried onion rings. I love that stuff

Peppers started here, at least the spicy ones I know for sure did.
            Maize AKA corn.
            Quinoa.
Most squashes I think are from the Americas. (Or is it gourds? Drat. Gotta look.)
            Turkey is an American bird.
            Potatoes are American.
            Tomatoes.
We did an American-foods-only T-giving last year.
I didn't know green beans were, tho'. Live and laern.

I don't mean 'what foods grow here'. I mean what dished have we started. Most here just changed, ole' dishes. BTW: I was curious so looked...apple pie was different but didn't start here.

potatoes were the mainstay of Irish diets. (until the famine that is)

Lor,since Native Americans were the first here I'd think what they ate came first? corn (maize),wildlife, fish, roots, edible greens.

                  Chili! That started Here! Woot!

That show I'm watching isn't about candy, it's about snack foods.
