as soon as hubby put a card in my lap after getting mail, I just knew what it was. And I was so right. You were on my mind and I knew it just had to be from you. Thank you so much. I keep thinking it will seem natural without thaqt olod dog aroud, but it haasn't happened yet. Glad I had him for as long as I did. He had the longest record or tied with the dog my parentsgot when I was very small.

I know words can help Joy. it will take time for you & your family. all dog lover's know just what you're going through. when a dog has stuck to your side like velcro it's hard to lose that companionship. I can still recall my dad's depression when he lost two dogs @ once. I made the mistake of taking him a puppy.....didn't realize we all grieve in our own way. (he got rid of the puppy) -
I think I wrote a post about my friend and the dogcatcher, just kidding, i did and when she told us that story I was thinking to myself, I wonder if our neighbor had called the pet control folks because Meanness had gone into his yard. He had a small dog that had come to our home many times and always acted as if we were in his yard. Barking and all. Well he made the mistake of snapping at ganddaughter when she was little! We told him, did not make a fuss or anything but really, can't have dogs acting that way with kids, he just scared me but she was about three years old. So neighbor put up a chain link fence in his back yard. That was also against the neighborhood rules but he did it anyway and got by with it.
So knowing all this, I hope no stray dogs come my way as I am tender hearted. they do cost a lot if you get all shots, heart worm meds etc. I sure am going to have to change my ways some tho as at least having a pet makes you be active more. Sure is different at home alone tho.

yes some pets keep us active. now I haven't walked in the woods but once or twice since Rags was put down. little dog could care less about exercise. Rags forced me to go for a walk! I was going through pictures last night. I sure took alot of Rags! I will always miss that big mutt. kinda scary to not have him for protection too. but no more big dogs for me,just too expensive & shorter life span.
