I still have one pet. He is hard to pet tho

it is a male beta fish, a nice blue one. I bought him in June and drove him home and a shamml shark about 130 miles from lake, LOL. Shark was grands ideal. I let her change the water and i know she muct have put some of the betas stuff in the water as well. ehe died fast. excuse my mistakes, i think unless just gosh awful, thye are staying.

i keep wondering how long beta will live. i know it depends on how long walmart had him as well. i always feel so sorry got yhose poor fish in those tub butter size bowls!! I have had them before and some went faster than others. even the fish is getting kinda hard to keep his water fresh enough. i need to let it sit to room climate so that takes planning. that and having a close by easy accesible place to dump the water. and i refuse to dump in sink if there are dishes in there. and you all know, there usually are dishes!!

and i am not feeding the outside birds very well at all. gosh things sure get complicated at times, LOL.

Joy I have always loved betas and I too feel so bad that people put them in teeny tiny decorative bowls. They are beautiful and should have room to be a fish. I read that you are not supposed to keep your bird feeders regularly filled because the birds become reliant on it and don't search for wild food like they are supposed to. That's how i feed them, I stagger the feedings........cause I am too lazy to keep them filled and thistle seed is so ridiculously expensive lol. I have 4 feeders and they can finish them all of them in 24 hrs. If I could afford it I would feed all the critters, deer, squirrels who are a never ending source of amusement, turkeys birds, but gots to concentrate on feeding ourselves for now.

well i am haphazard at feeding them and like you say, they sure can swarm and gobble it all up. there are the kinds I'd rather not feed mostly but if it is out, it is eaten by whomever gets there first.

At least I love to have seed on hand for when we do get snow. Our birds are not use to snow all the time. So when we get a heavy one that stays for awhile, they will even eat it off my porch if I throw it there or off tins in back.

I have several gallon size containers for fish but this time I only bought one beta. I went on a trip once and had neighbor keep my fish. Having just one that time, they put a mirrow in front of bowl to watch it panic. I was so relieved that I had only one because it made me wonder if I had two or more, if they would have put them in tank together.

I have carried a bowl for fish up to the lake and back several times but it s always risky in summer in case we have to stop for any length of time. the water sure can heat up if we had to stop for any length of time and no ac. This will probably be my last fish also. Grand daugyter bgeged for me to get it, and of course she hardly ever even looks at it any more. She is just as crazy about any animal as I use to be. We still have her black and white horse at farm. He will let her ride him but throws off anyone else, LOL. She is grateful we keep him tho as her other grandmother has her two other horses and they all fight. so one out is helpful. Had to buy hay yesterday since grass is going. Our place is better for horses than her other grandmothers.

If anyone knows about horses, they know most may stand under a shed if one is available. As the man who really knows horses best that had his on our place before Joe Bob, all horses do is stand in shed and *hi* and stomp feet at flies. Well the black and white Joe Bob doesn't. no sir, we do not have to do any shoveling at all. He will go out from under the shed. Well it is bigger than a shed but part of a large covered place. Nice enough for him. If I was rich, I'd have a wagon and all the leather straps that it takes to fit a horse with so they could pull wagon. An 80 year old man owned and named Joe Bob and sold him. I often wonder why he had to see, because of age or health or what. If I could find his name and address I'd love for him to know his beautiful horse if still awesome as ever.

I know more than mos want to know about horses, LOL.
