    It’s time again to lace up your walking and running shoes and join us for the:

    KAT-Walk & Karo-5K*for*Brain Aneurysm Awareness
    Saturday, September 13, 2014**-*Back Cove Boulevard, Portland, Maine

    This annual event, named in memory of Kimberly A. Tudor (KAT) and Karolina A. Kurka (Karo), benefits the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in their efforts to support early detection, education, fund research and create awareness about brain aneurysms.

    In 2013, through your donations,*the BAF awarded the first "Maine's KAT-Walk and Karo-5K Chair of Research" in the amount of $25,000 to a doctor in Chicago doing life saving work on preventing vasospasm that often occurs after a ruptured brain aneurysm.     Now in its 6th*year, the KAT-Walk & Karo-5K has grown to include many families affected by brain aneurysms and this day is used to honor survivors and remember loved ones lost to this silent killer. The day starts at 11:00 a.m. with registration, family gatherings, a 50/50 raffle, face painting, and safety helmet fittings conducted by the Michael T. Goulet Foundation.

    New this year – Unka Dave’s Kids Fun Run – 12:00pm – ages split to 5-7 & 8-10

    The timed Karo-5k run will begin at 1:00 p.m. with prizes awarded to top runners in multiple age groups.**The KAT-Walk will follow the run at 1:05 p.m.

    September is Brain Aneurysm Awareness month in Maine. Please join us, as we*“share our tears, remember with love, walk & run to honor”*Kim, Karo, and many other families affected and help save lives!

    Ruptured 11mm annie on 10/5/06. Left internal carotid artery. Coiled at Maine Med. Portland, ME. 16 coils. Coils compacting Dec. 2010. Stent implanted 3/16/2011 and 4 more new coils added 4/27/2011 by Dr. Ecker. Another 4mm annie discovered Dec. 2010. Older sister died from rupture 5/29/12.
