This is an extract of an email I received today.....

Welcome to FACES! As you may already know, Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES) is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with epilepsy, and their families, through research, education, and clinical and community support programs. We are very proud of what we have accomplished and remain ambitious about plans for the future. We invite you to view our new and improved website at the same address: Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

The heart of FACES is people, our family. The community of doctors, nurses, neuropsychologists, scientists, technicians, and administrators, and most importantly - the people we care for, their families, and their friends. And the wider community of our collaborators in epilepsy care and science around the world and patients and families who benefit from the research and educational programs we help to sponsor.

Some of our most enduring successes are those that have grown to independence. FACES was the original home of epilepsy.com - the world's leading source of information on epilepsy and the world's largest epilepsy community; a lead sponsor of The Epilepsy Therapy Project - the largest academic consortium dedicated to advancing new epilepsy therapies; and the source of the seed money that led to the Epilepsy Phenome Genome Project, one the largest clinical epilepsy studies, involving more than 25 international centers, funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Our research program has never been as full or exciting as now. From exploring the immunological mechanisms underlying epilepsy, pioneering new methods to deliver medications directly to the brain, developing novel methods to surgical treat epilepsy, undertaking studies to understand the risk factors and mechanisms underlying sudden death in epilepsy (SUDEP) to more than a dozen other studies that are now ongoing within our center and our collaborators around the world.

Education and community are the heart of FACES. Our annual educational conference is one of the largest in the world. Our annual newsletter and new monthly e-newsletter, Insight, are read by more than 12,000 people. Our Game Day at Chelsea Piers brings families together for fun and for sharing. And Camp Scholarships bring the joy of friendship for campers and respite for parents.

All this is thanks to the incredible support we have received.

This website is about information and sharing. Happy you are here. We welcome suggestions, thoughts and questions - form ideas about educational programs to clinical questions for our medical and nursing staff to ways in which you can get involved. Feel free to reach us at: FACESinfo@nyumc.org.
