    Help please

    I am on the medication lamotrigine 200mg once a day. Luckily this has kept me seizure fee for 5 yrs now. I am very very worried that there is a strong chance that I may have to discontinue the use of this medication. Last week 200 people were terminated from the company I worked for and I was one of them. I will not be able to afford the cost of this without any insurance coverage. Does anyone know how likely it would be that I would start to have seizures again if I need to stop taking this?

    It is Likely that you will have seizures again. Do you have time to go to your epileptologist or neurologist to see about getting another script to take with you? Some people, taking some medicines, can use generics. My luck with generics has not been good due to allergies to their "inert" ingredients, A.K.A. excipients.

      Hi shalpin,
      Linnie is correct you will possibly have withdraw sz. if you go off the lamictal. You need to call your neuro or Epi and tell them what's going on. Also if you are taking any other sz. meds let your Dr. know. You can let the Epilepsy Foundation know
      what's going on and they may be able to give you some help or advice in regards to health ins. and getting meds. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

        1. Go to the address above.
        2. Scroll down to the Manufacturer of your lamotrigine.
        3. Click on it.
        4. Select Description.
        Below the picture of the molecule you will see What is in that manufacturer's tablet.
        This includes both the active ingredient and the "inactive " ingredients, A.K.A. excipients.
        5. Go to your neurologist or epileptologist. Have him write on your script that that manufacturer is needed.
        6. Go to a Local pharmacist who does not work for a chain. Talk to him about your doctor's insisting that you have your medicine from this manufacturer and this manufacturer only. Local pharmacists (not employed by a chain) will order by manufacturer.

          Now to Shalpin41, GO to Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register... I have used this site and found Patient Assistance program for my Keppra. I still get it from there free as I have no insurance either. Glaxo Smith Kline makes Lamictal and they have a program too according to what I saw on the Needy Meds site. These are the links. See if you qualify and get the application in soon. They send me 6 months at the time. Your doc will need to complete his/her portion and give you a script, but it does work. You also can look into getting Cobra. I don't think they can deny you that. For now, do this application very quickly, TODAY, before Cobra kicks in. You will have insurance then and will not qualify for this program. Tattoo
