Hearing Shunt Drain

I have seen in other forums and on facebook where people comment that they can hear their shunts draining. Yesterday, as I was reading a book, I suddenly became aware of my hearing, and all sound seemed to just disappear except this rushing sound that I was hearing in my right ear. I have a VP fixed, medium pressure, shunt that runs down behind my right ear. Am I possibly hearing my shunt draining? I have been able to hear this sound on and off for a while now, but I am just now connecting it with the possibility of my shunt that I am hearing.

Yep. I hear the one on the right side of my head only. I never hear the left one.
Weird. Right?
