Was my shunt tap performed wrong?

I had a shunt tap performed. The young doctor (possibly new) stuck the needle where the catheter enters my skull into my brain instead of the shunt itself.. Now I have a big sore lump there and a headache lasting days.

The valve should have been tapped. Were you tapped in the burr hole?
