    Mail Order Rx

Does anybody here use mail order to fill there scripts? I have started in the interest of saving money. (what else?). How do you get enough ahead so you don't run out. I have some blood pressure med that I am not supposed to stop abruptly as well as some pain meds that I would rather NOT stop abruptly.

I am making an appt this morning to talk to him about it. but I am curious to see how other folks manage this. I have no doubt that he will write a script for a handful of pills. Since in the 5 years I have seen him I have never run out of anything. The savings is not that much its just that few extra bucks every month as well as not making an extra trip to the pharmacy. I do take some class 2 pain stuff. And I finally have it under control for the most part. I did not know that you could even do them mail order.

As always thanks for your input.

I do mail order (express scripts BC/BS mail order). It is 3 months worth each time you order. Just order like 2 or 3 weeks ahead or I usually order as soon as it's allowed so I always have extra.

Some years ago I did mail-order rx's. More recently I've kept looking until I found a local pharmacy that delivers. If that arrangement fails, I'd go back to mail-order.

I prefer local home delivered rx's because sometimes there's an urgent need. If I have an infection, I don't want to wait around for the rx to come in the mail.

I do have a few scripts and any urgent scripts that I fill at Stop and Shop pharmacy. There are a few that are cheaper locally(heart meds). The mail order ones are 3 months for price of 2.

Gary, I have mail order and it saves big money. Not always- I compare. The Copaxone is $70 for 3 months worth. Most of my other drugs are generic and cost $10 for the 3 months. Nortriptyline cost less than $10 for 3 months at CVS so I get that one there. If it is not a generic it is $70 as there are only 2 tiers for me.

If you need something fast, you can pay to have it expedited but if you need it now, of course, you'd want to use a local drugstore.

I am w FEPBlue. We were Medco then Caremark for 2 years then Medco for a few more years and now we are going back to Caremark. Not looking forward to that. And, they will have more tiers- I think $90 for 3 months of Copaxone- still a bargain.

          Best to you,

Hi Gary, I do mail order and have for a number of years. My insurance requires it for CRABs. I have had medco who "farms" it out to Accredo for several years and they have been great. The Rx is for a year and they call about 2 weeks before I would run out to schedule a reorder and we pick a delivery date and they overnight ship. They also do that for unrefrig meds. I switch to CVS in Jan. and I wonder how that will work out....Good Luck to you.
