My hat is off to anyone willing to take part in a study involving taking a drug. I've been in studies involving taking surveys and studies involving blood draws but I'd draw the line at anything where I'd have to take a drug I wouldn't ordinarily be taking.

Somebody has to do this, though, and I'm glad there are people around who are willing to.

Lyon, I guess there's no way of knowing if your wife was helped by the Tovaxin or if her condition might have improved without it--?
    SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

I agree agate. Although Tovaxin is a vaccine made from components of your own blood and re-injected into you and not a drug, it was daunting enough in itself entering into the trial knowing that she was signing up for a year of what might have been placebo treatment. Still, she wasn't on an accepted treatment and wasn't interested in going on one so I guess we didn't have a lot to lose.

"Lyon, I guess there's no way of knowing if your wife was helped by the Tovaxin or if her condition might have improved without it--?"
There are a few things that seemed to hint that she benefited from Tovaxin but through the years it's become increasingly obvious that wishful thinking can have devastating effects on the thought process of otherwise intelligent people and I'm not immune to that. I wouldn't be surprised if Tovaxin eventually proves to be a modern miracle and I wouldn't be surprised if time proves there was nothing more to it than an interesting theory.
