    NMO/Devic's

    Hi all,
So what came of my MRI and Neuro appt?
MRI of Brain and neck showed the lesion in my neck from my first attack and the brain looked normal, again.
The attack that is happening now is likely in the thoratic spine and that was not ordered in the mri back in Aug.
Neuro said that he hesitates to say MS because of the normal brain mri, he is thinking more towards NMO as it affects the spine and Optics only(I've never had optic neuritis) or Recurring Transverse Mylietis, but that is vary rare.

I had a blood test to test for NMO antibodies, which should take a couple of weeks. He recommended starting treatment for NMO with Imuran as the attacks can be much worse with NMO and he would rather treat for prevention of these attacks and for what has been presented. I know it could still be MS but his focus is more certain on NMO.

I have place the prescription for filling and my head is just swirling around what this is all about and what's to come. I'm ok starting treatment for this as something needs to be tried for preventation of future attacks.

The search tool here isn't working very well. Does anyone know why my searches come up as nothing found?

anyone here with NMO? what is your experience?

    Thanks

Hi Ann-Marie. Thanks for letting us know. It is a frustrating process, isn't it?

For those that don't know, NMO= Neuromyelitis Optica.

Have you gone into the archives and searched there? Great treasure of information there.

    What is the RX?

    Best to you,
    ANN

Too bad you're having so much uncertainty and having to run around to appointments and tests.

As for the Search tool, I agree with stillstANNding's suggestion about the Archives. This board went into a new version not so long ago. You'll find far more posts in the older posts that are stored in the Archives, and there's a link to the Archives in a "sticky" thread by Mike Weins.

Here's a bit of information about transverse myelitis:Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

      And some information about NMO:
