I need info on hospital beds.

Hello, I finally know it's time for a hospital bed and I am hoping someone can give me some suggestions on a good one. And that would be covered by Medicare. I did find one but the store that has it is not a Medicare supplier so it is not covered.

There are probably a few medical equipment places somewhere in your vicinity or not too far away. Often they will send someone to you if you can't get to their office. You might need to call several of them before you find one that takes the kind of Medicare arrangement you want, but once you settle on one, you should be able to get the best kind of hospital bed for your needs.

Your doctor and the medical equipment company can advise you on what kind of hospital bed would be best for you.

I highly recommend getting the assessment of a physical therapist before you get a bed.
Most suppliers know what they sell but don't have the background to match what you need.
Just because a business has been around 20 years doesn't mean they know what they are doing
beyond selling.
My last mattress was ordered by an RN. It degraded within 6 months, gave me a pressure sore
and was replaced with the same garbage.
In another 6 months I got a PT and a new company with a PT assistant who knew the entire market
inventory. I now have a wonderful bed that fills all my physical needs.

Look around at what is available and ask questions.

PS- My doctors aren't up on this stuff.
A physiatrist would probably know something but still work w/a PT.

Sally, do you know anyone who's tried the mattress-lifting gizwatchy?

It looks like a good solution if you just want to elevate your upper body at various angles. Just wondering if it wouldn't do a number on the mattress after a while, though....

I can't imagine my mattress being that bendable, for instance.
