OT- Water Contamination

The Senate Judiciary's recent mass release of thousand's of Department of Defense documents pertaining to the water contamination at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina has prompted a local advocate and his team to search for answers.....

Not to alarm anyone, but everyone needs to be informed concerning what has been "swept under the carpet" since the 1950's. What else has been swept away that we who suffer from chronic illnesses need to know about?

That's probably not much over 100 miles from me and I heard about it a long time ago. I agree with Renee, it is absolutely disgusting. I wish there was
a way that people who are responsible for these things could be prosecuted. I lost my husband to cancer a long time ago. He came from a large family
and he was the only one to have it. No real reason, he took good care of his health. The only thing is he was in the military for over 20 years. There
is no telling what he was subjected to during that time. For that matter there is no telling what I was since I traveled and moved a number of times
with him. The one difference was that he was in Viet Nam and in agent orange and I was not. That very easily could explain his cancer, but back when
he died the VA was not recognizing claims - now they are, but they told me they couldn't even find a file on him past the time he first went in. Unreal,
considering the amount of time he put in on active duty and reserves.

Sometime I think the government can do what they want to.

Virginia, So sorry to hear about your husband and the facts around his cancer. My neighbor's husband was exposed to Agent Orange in Viet Nam and died of multiple cancers because of it when he was a young man. Can you get someone to help you with his case. You should be entitled to compensation due to his exposure to Agent Orange.

Maybe you can find a lawyer who will work "pro bono" to get you what you deserve. Don't worry about being in a bad mood....I stay there these days.

Thanks Gabriella, when he died they would not even talk to me at all. They were still denying agent orange claims. I tried again about 8 to 9 years after his death. They were not then denying the claims, but said mine was too old. Now it is really old and they say they cannot find his records. I have some of his military records but not enough.

I am so very tired that I don't think I could go that route again even through a lawyer. I think back and there are things I wish I had done before I got sick and
had more strength, but that kind of thinking does no good.

Virginia, There are a lot of things I wish I had done differently at the time I got so sick. But when you are so sick... and sick and tired at the same time...it is difficult to do anything else but struggle to get thru each day.

It is hard not to live in the past.... when you know you have been harmed..... but you are right it is best not to dwell on the past as it is not good for our mental health.

Abby, I only post what has been proven to be true even if the wheels turn so slowly. I don't post everything that I suspect might be a factor in my case. Even though it happened and it is probably too late for any of us to benefit from the information (altho claims are still being filed).....this might be beneficial to someone here. A lot of the government records are just now being released to the public. It takes years and years for claims to be worked thru the system.....
