Agate, I am hoping these hearing aids will be really good for you and work just the way you hope. Would you have been able to get this quality of hearing aid with Medicare and Medicaid before insurance came along? I don't know since I have never not had insurance.

Rose, I am concerned a little about the effects of the BP medicine I am taking, but the pharmacist said that it would take several weeks for my body to adapt, so I am hoping that I will then stop having any problems. There are a few other problems that I am having, but that is the one that concerned me most. Howie could probably tell me all about BP medication. I have not been taking my BP, but plan to start tomorrow and I plan to keep a running tally of what it is.

My brother did get up with my A/C man this morning and he liked him very much. He said they talked on the phone for a long time. The man went over to the place of business and fixed the air conditioner, thereby saving my brother the cost of a new one. We laughed about trying to keep him busy in the family. In reality I am afraid my family is too small for that. But if anything comes up that we can refer him to someone we certainly will do that. He will not only do the work right, but will charge reasonably.

Well, I am going to bed. I hope to get to talk to everyone tomorrow if anyone shows up.

It is always disconcerting to me, when BT goes down. I revisit memories of when BT crashed many years ago. We never want that to happen again!

Hi everyone who is reading - I missed all of you during the little break the board took!

Yesterday I went to pick up medicine from pharmacy - just drove through. Then I went to Lowe's Foods and picked up a few groceries. I made two trips in and put them away. Then I rested just a bit and went to meet up with two brothers and their wives for dinner. We got outside seating and the weather was nice and an overhead fan, which was not located right over out table but to the side of it so that we had a little breeze. I enjoyed it. The sister-in-law who is the better cook in the family brought me several one serving casserole dishes that she had frozen for me. She cooks and eats healthy. So tonight I am having chicken enchiladas for dinner. This is very welcome from the bought foods and the small amount of cooking that I am now doing.

She has officially been a Nanny now for a week and is loving it. Funny, she got rid of her sewing machine and planned on buying another one either last night or today. She is getting this just for the new baby. She wants to make his Halloween costume. I asked her couldn't she buy one and she said her children had homemade ones and she wants his to be homemade like hers had. He will be all of 3 1/2 months when Halloween comes around, but they plan to put him in his carriage and go "trick or treating". I am sure they just want to show him off. I can't blame them. If I knew how to post pictures I would show him off on here.

As seems to be the way lately, there is always one or two things to be concerned about. They told me my brother in South Carolina is not doing well. His legs are again giving him a lot of trouble. He can hardly walk. He is really afraid he will be in a wheelchair. He also has to have carotid artery surgery, which scares me because I know with that surgery there is a danger of stroke, but they say he has to have it. One of his kids is going to get him and his wife and bring them to N.C. for Christmas. They will be an hour or more from me. He told my brother that he really wants to see me. That he feels sure it will be the last time he ever sees me. The brother he was talking to here told him he would go and pick him up and bring him over here so we could see each other.

I hope all of you have a good rest of your evening. It is about bedtime for those of us on the East Coast.

Virginia, I hope your sister-in-law enjoys sewing because just as soon as she's finished that Halloween costume, the little one will have outgrown it but at least the family can enjoy taking some photos of him in his very first Halloween get-up. Maybe trick-or-treating will be kept to a minimum during this era of COVID--it might be too much close contact? One baby wearing a costume in a carriage might be safe enough for him and for others, though.

It sounds as if my grandson might be going trick-or-treating to a few places in the neighborhood, I hope only places where the people living there are already known. It seems a shame to disturb people who might have trouble in their homes for all anyone knows--a serious illness, a death in the family--and be really bothered by having to answer the door to a trick-or-treater, no matter how clever the costume is. This is just my killjoy sentiment about trick-or-treating though. I wasn't allowed to do this as a child but I did allow my kids to, under adult supervision. We lived in a neighborhood where trick-or-treaters might be ringing your doorbell nonstop between 2 PM and 10 PM on Halloween. It could be very frantic, and you had to have a lot of treats on hand to take care of them all.

I'm sorry your brother has to have surgery. He might come through it very well and have many more years ahead of him. I hope so!

Last night too? Most of yesterday I wasn't able to get in here but in the early evening it was OK. Your time is 3 hours ahead of mine and so maybe we're talking about the same stretch of time.

I started a Netflix series on 9//11 documentary Season 1 Episode 1. There are two scenes of a woman with MS in the tower. I found it poignant. She survived... thanks to a quick acting man who risked his own life when he realized she would have no way to get out.

Hi to all of you - I think we have a problem, or at least I do!

My brother called and told me that I had posted on FB (Joan it must have been when I responded to something you had posted). Anyway, my SIL went on FB and looked to see what I had posted and when she clicked on it she apparently came directly here. I seldom post on FB and was very much surprised that it would do that. She did not try to come on here, from what he said, but just automatically did when she clicked on something about me on FB.

What can we do about this? Did everyone know this could happen? I can stop posting on FB, and I almost never do anyway, but I would like to be able to respond to family or a few things I see like the post Agate had started. Agate was it because we were discussing BT being down? Someone please explain to me what is going on. This is rather disconcerting!!! I don't have anything to really hide, but I do post things on here that I would not post elsewhere. Can anything be done? Should I let Mike know?

Sunshine, glad you are enjoying the 9/11 documentary series. I think I have seen that advertised. I dropped Netflix some time back because I just wasn't using it. I am glad the lady with MS got out. Sadly, so many others did not.

My brother called me back. He said if I had VPN that it would not do that. That indicates that my computer is private. I can do that but I first have to find out if my bank will still let me in because I do all my banking on my same computer. Do all of you have VPN?

I don't need these security sites, because my devices are all Apple. However, there is a spyware, called Pegasus, which is plaguing Apple products, so all of my devices have to have updated software. My iPad and iPhone require WiFi to update the software, so John has them now to do the updates, since I don't have WiFi.

I'm so sorry that your brother needs surgery. I will pray that all goes smoothly for him. Please let us know when it is scheduled, so I can keep him in my prayers that day.

It's great to see BT up and running today. I agree with agate that Mike could use some extra help.

My exciting news:

Friday, about 8 p.m., we had a 4.3 earthquake. I felt the rolling, like my house was being pushed back and forth by the Jolly Green Giant and King Kong. Apparently, it lasted for about 10 seconds, but everyone will tell you that it feels like an hour.

Immediately, I had flashbacks of the 5.2 quake, which struck in 2014. Every room in our home had damage. It sounded like a train was going through our home. All of the water mains broke, and a raging river flowed down our street. We had relentless aftershocks for a month, some as high as 3.4. I was a nervous wreck, but thankfully, Jim was calm and reassuring. I really missed his comfort Friday night.

I watched the news for an hour or so, then I went to bed. The quake was far enough away from me that I wasn't despairing that another larger quake might happen.

John was very close to the epicenter, when the quake occurred. He described the noise, the jolt, the rolling, and the few damaged items around him.

I slept through the 11 p.m. aftershock, and I haven't felt any of the smaller aftershocks in the 2.5 range.

With gratitude, I realize that it has been 7 years since we've had a quake of this magnitude, and I am blessed that I experienced no further damage from this quake. Of course, who knows how solid the foundation is? I don't!

Mother Nature is letting us know that she is quite stressed, and She needs our help.
