What if he is really a Vulcan that had his ears clipped when he was born. Vulcans have a very long lifespan compared to us humans! Hmmmm....

You think his ears were clipped so he could be a Vulcan in disguise?

        ((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~

Well, we struck out three times today.

John put the new SIM card in my iPad, and it still says, "No Sim card" in Settings. Oddly, when he turned on the iPad, a window appeared with the message: Sim card installed. He took my iPad home with him, where he has WiFi, to see whether he can figure out the problem. He might even ask his daughter, who as a teenager is technologically literate. Not that John isn't, but she is a few paces ahead of him.

Next we approached the sprinkler system controller. Here, I am an expert, because I've been programming it for 31 years. So, I gave him a tutorial. He asked me to put it on manual, then we went out to the front, where he turned a little knob on the sprinkler water main, and the front sprinklers came on. He told me that I didn't have to hand water. I can turn that little knob on and allow the sprinklers to run for 10 minutes on the 3 appointed days.

Meanwhile, John will contact his friend, who built the brick retaining wall and has Jim's tools and instruments, to ask if he knows anything about automatic sprinkler systems. John will also do some "research" to see what kinds of systems are available.

John wanted to fire up the van to let it run, but the van wouldn't start. John didn't have his extension cord to connect the booster, so we will leave it until his next visit. I just can't believe that we don't have a long extension cord. That's not the kind of thing that Jim wouldn't have. There must be at least one somewhere! I think I will just order one!

We had quite a storm last night, with thunder, lightening, strong, whipping winds and a good amount of rain. Although we both talked about it disturbing our sleep, we are grateful for any rain. I was very thankful that my tree has been trimmed. It left behind quite a mess in the front and back yards. More limbs from the tree dropped, nothing large or dangerous, and this is expected after tree trimming.

Through the years, William Shatner has exuded a young-at-heart attitude. He has a keen sense of humor, and he enjoys joking about himself.

Betty White is 99! Carl Reiner was 98 when he died last year. Carl was best friends with Mel Brooks, who is 95. Dick Van Dyke is 95, married to a much younger woman, and still dances effortlessly.

A very dear friend of mine is 98, and, while she is getting more frail, she is still sharp as a tack and spunky.

I'll let Frank Sinatra explain it ~

Or, William Shatner could be a Vulcan in disguise. Either way, he is doing well for his age!

Stay strong, be safe and well everyone!

          Rose,
Why do you need a SIM card in your iPad? I am asking out of sheer ignorance. We have 6 iPads! None has a SIM card but maybe I need to know more. We use wifi. (I still have the very first iPad! It runs and I use it to listen to audible. Amazing how heavy it is.

Rose, I've seen many famous people who are approaching the century mark. I personally don't want to have a long lifespan, so I'll probably live to be 130. That's the way life is.

Any X-files fans besides me? It is on Monday through Thursday at 10 pm, but there will be a marathon tomorrow from 1:00 until who knows. Oh, and this is on the Comet channel. Besides Star Trek, it is one of my favorite shows.

I hope everyone had a great day.

If you live to be 130, you should end up in the Guinness Book of World Records! Thus far, Jeanne Calment holds the claim to fame for being the oldest human in history (as documented) at age 122.

My dear aunt battled cancer for 15 years, and as she approached her 90th birthday, her home health care nurse said, "You may live to be a hundred!"

My aunt chuckled, "Why the heck would I want to do that?!"

A few days before her 90th birthday, she passed peacefully.

My 98 year old friend is now dependent upon others for things she used to be able to do on her own. She has told me that she feels like a burden or a nuisance. She is neither, because she is a lovely, delightful, and wonderful woman.

But, I understand how she feels, because I rely so much on John to help me. I am certainly more independent than my friend, but I'm not used to not being fully independent.

I never watched the X-Files, but I remember when it was on and was quite popular. Enjoy your binge watching!

According to our local weatherman, a swath of rain will wash over us tomorrow. We need it desperately, and I am grateful that we are having it. We might even get a little snowfall in the mountains. Any moisture is a blessing for all of us here in the West.

Prayers, healing, positive energy to all ~

I haven't seen "X Files" either but understand it was influenced by "Twilight Zone," which I definitely did watch, way back in the mists of time.

I saw William Shatner last night on Anderson Cooper's show. He and Anderson had a good time laughing and talking about Shatner going up in space. He has promised to come back on when he gets back to Earth. At one point Anderson asked if he was the just the slightest bit nervous and Shatner just laughed and said Heck yes, that he was going up in space and it was something not many people have done before him. He and Anderson were a delight together. Shatner had Anderson laughing so hard he almost lost control of himself. Shatner is a funny, witty man.

A neighbor called today and said she would get some brisket tomorrow and bring it to my house for lunch so we could discuss our plants that are to be put in next week. She wants us to have them alike. Our houses are alike, it is true, but she is a block away on another end lot and I am all the way up here on my corner. Personally, I just want something that is hardy and green at this point. But if she wants us to be twins that will be fine.

I had to get busy and wash my hair so I wouldn't have to do it in the morning. I need to vacuum the downstairs and if I get to it in the morning that will be good and if I don't that will be alright too. We have been neighbors since our houses were built. We both bought when they were new and we are the only ones in the last eight that were built that are the original owners.

I even got out some fancy place mats, napkins, etc so I could set the table in the dinning room. I didn't want to use my kitchen table because it has all my BP paraphernalia on it.

Virginia, I hope you'll have a nice visit with the neighbor. I don't think I'd want a neighbor deciding what plants I should have but you don't seem to mind. I'd be inclined to pick plants that need almost no maintenance, for instance.

I understand that William Shatner will be in space only 11 minutes, and so he may not find it too much of an ordeal. Let's hope he doesn't find it too stressful.

I've never flown, so even if he's up high for just a few minutes, he beat me. I hope it goes well for him and he gets to experience space.

I've never flown because I've never had any place to fly to. I'm a car nut, and have always driven to any place I wanted to go. I did go to the airport, which had a parking lot where you could watch planes take off and land. And there were folks who would cruise the parking lot for people who wanted to go up and see the area from a plane, but I could never agree on a price, so I never went. My real wish is to go up in one of the modern air force fighter jets. That would be a real thrill.

Agate, I did tell my neighbor I wanted something that is hardy and didn't take much work. (not that I plan to do any of the work, or even could). She called a nearby nursery yesterday and went through the list of plants we were given to get some idea of how tall they grow. Actually, I think she just kind of wanted to come by for awhile. She stayed from 1PM until 4PM. There is a yard across the street from me and I don't know what the plants are, but I kind of like it from my house. I told her to ride by. I have been meaning to for a long time but I forget it every time I go out. Actually, I doubt that we will have that much say so over what we have. She knows slightly more about green shrubs than I do, which still wasn't much. We did both agree that we do not want to have large shrubs that have to be pruned real often again. We sometime get landscapers that don't get around to us very often.

Yesterday evening someone knocked on my door and I opened the big door. When I tried to open the glass door it was so stuck that I beat on the wood part with both my fist and still couldn't get it to open. I could not possibly get out. I talked to the man through the glass door and he was just asking if I had an interest in getting a quote on new windows. I told him "no" but that I had an interest in getting my door open, that it had recently been painted and that was the reason it is like that. He told me he could open it from the outside and I told him to have at it. He easily opened it and then slid the post office boxes in front of it so it couldn't close. Today, when my neighbor was leaving another one walked by my house and looked at the postal boxes and I told her about my door. She and I decided that a wreath hanger, which I had, might do it. It didn't, so she asked if I had any cotton balls. I got my cotton balls and she stuck one in the opening where it usually locks in place and it worked. Now I don't have to keep the door open with the post office boxes blocking it so it can't close. Some people are so clever. We have had damp rainy days for the past 3 days, which is why the door is like that.

Speaking of post office, my postman is the nicest man I have ever seen. I think every time he can sneak another box to me he does, so they will get taller and I will not have to bend over so much to try and get my mail. It has really been nice to be able to get my mail on a daily basis. I heard he is retiring at the end of the year and I really do not want him to go. One day I had started out and a lady was carrying the mail. She said George had told her to take care of me. Now, you know I don't want George to go, but if he does he surly deserves a good retirement.

Well. I think I am just typing to fill space, so I will go get out of these clothes and into my housecoat and get comfortable.

Hope you and the neighbor will both benefit from this collaboration on the plantings. A friendly neighbor is always nice.

Your story of your battle for mailbox access is so typical of my life too--constant little battles for a way to do ordinary things. There are bigger mailboxes in this building where people's packages are left. A small key is left in your regular mailbox to let you know you have a package, and then you open that bigger mailbox with the key.

The keys don't work well, and there have been times when I've tried every which way and then brought a pliers, then bought a can of silicone spray, just to get a package out of that mailbox. Once I tried so hard with that key that I broke the lock.

Howie, I'm going to find out if I can get the Comet channel. I loved Twilight Zone.

Air Force fighter jets--is this the kind of plane you have in mind? The trouble with jets is that they always fly so high. If you like looking at clouds, I guess you'd love it. I liked the little propeller-driven planes where you could see things other than clouds. Tiny houses and trees and cars and hills.
