Hi Dar, what a treat to sign in today and see that you had posted. We are always concerned about you and what is happening with you. Sorry to hear about the chronic kidney problems, however as Agate pointed out, your Doctor seems to feel that it is under control.

So glad to hear you have a roommate that you enjoy. In the more than a year that Jeanie has been in one she hasn't had one yet that she really likes and enjoys their company.

I am sorry that restrictions are back on where you are, but at least Curt is able to get food to you three times per week. Now if you can just think of something you really like. Like Linda I never know the difference between tacos and enchiladas.

Glad to know your family is checking on you. We hope to hear from you again soon. We miss you.

You're doing great. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. Keep fighting, and then you will be able to defeat this disease. It's a fantastic place where my mother was helped and cared for very well. The friendly staff always lent their support, and that's why my mother managed to cope with this illness. When you have someone who can take care of a sick person and who is supportive, that person is sure to cope. That's a fact.

Well wouldn't you know it, my dear roommate was moved to a private room. I am surely going to miss her. Good news though, turns out my latest blood work shows I am back to stage 1 kidney failure not stage 3. Wish my doctor would have waited for the results before scaring me half to death. My new roommate is compatible she is in her ninties so I am always looking out for her, like a worry wart.LOL They gave us all nose swabs again, I am hoping they come back negative for COVID so that visitation can start again.

        Thank you for posting!

So sorry you lost the roommate. I hope the new one will turn out well.

That's really good news about the kidneys! Too bad you had to have that scare though. I don't know if this will be much comfort but I know someone who's been at stage 4 of kidney failure for years and has been doing fine, not on dialysis.

Good luck on the nose swab results. I understand that those nose swabs are uncomfortable. I hope you don't have to have them often.

DAR, sorry you lost that roommate that you were able to laugh with. You are a good person to try and help your ninety something year old get by.

It would be great if all the nose swabs came back negative and Curt could get in there to see you. I know you miss him terribly, even though you can talk on the phone.

What good news about the kidney test. I am sure that was a relief for you and all your family.

I hope you can check back in with us soon.

            ((((((DAR)))))) ~

That's unfortunate that your roommate was moved. Will you still be able to keep in touch?

How sweet of you to look after your new roommate. A little bit of love can go a long way.

Excellent news that your kidney stage is at 1 now instead of 3. May it continue to be so.

Sending prayers and healing, positive energy to you. I hope you get to see Curt very soon.

            Love & Light,

            ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi DAR, glad that you’ve weathered the storm and have improved in some areas. Sorry to hear that the food is not great. Rose’s idea of staying in touch with your other roommate is a good one. Maybe you could visit? Send secret notes? Talk on the phone?

I was in Beth Israel, Boston once for two weeks and had ten days of IV steroids. I was feeling great by the third day. I have good memories of that admission - a la carts menu! And other women about my age w neurological problems - CSF leak, Myasthenia, etc. we had great times after visitors’ hours in the evenings. We had a reunion lunch months later. We were an MD, a mental health clinic receptionist, a rehab nurse, a med surg nurse and me. What a time!

Good to hear from you, Dar! Sorry you lost your roommate, but I hope you can have visitors soon.

Ann, I have never spent the night in Beth Israel, but I spent a long time in Brigham and the food was the quality of a fancy restaurant.

Ikoiko - that’s funny - I’ve been in BI, Newton Wellesley, and The Faulkner but I’m a Brigham/MGH patient. I’ve never been there overnight so never eaten anything there.
