    From Tom Cat today:

Cats on the box next to my lounge chair this morning, where they can get pets from me. A warm 40° out this morning, but feeling chilly outside. Slowly waking up with a cup of coffee and a scrambled egg and bacon.

My nephew, John, and wife will be coming up from just north of Milwaukee, to take me out to lunch. That will be a nice break for me.

Around the first of the month I get busy, and I'm sorry I didn't get around to transferring your message until today, Virginia. Here is a reply from Tom Cat:
Hi Virginia! Hope you enjoy your Kindle. Just curious to know if your low-price Kindle came with a camera? Some of the low-price ones do not.

I'm still trying to figure out where I can find some Kindle guru who could show me how to set up a new Kindle. Having to use Ann's, which is in her name, is a headache. The camera has a 3-second countdown for pictures, I don't know how to get rid of this split keyboard, and the messaging system lost half my native friends.

As to the hemoglobin count, the shots I get every two weeks have it up higher than ever before. I've been doing the shots for around 8 years. More on this later.

This last Thursday I got my Moderna COVID-19 booster shot. Same fire station and clinic where I got the first and second shots. shot. Took 15 minutes, plus a 15-minute wait. Nothing like an organized small-town clinic. No red tape, and plenty of open parking across the street.

      Take care.

        ((((((Ralph)))))) ~

I hope that you had a lovely lunch with John and his wife. Contented, well-loved cats you have there. I know they bring you comfort.

I searched Amazon, and I found this, which might have helpful information for you to figure out how to deal with your Kindle:

Here is a video for Kindle beginners on YouTube:

There is probably a plethora of information on line about Kindle, which would help you learn how to use it.

That's good news that getting your booster vaccine was easy and accessible for you. I live in a metropolis, but my pharmacy is only a couple of miles from my home, and they are very kind and efficient.

Please take extra good care of yourself, and know that we are all thinking of you and sending you healing, positive energy.

        Love & Light,

        ❤️❤️❤️❤️

          Hi Ralph,

I have been tinkering with my Kindle Fire Tablet. So far I have not read anything to help me use it (I am stubborn). I will in order to fine tune things. So far I can go on the Internet, come to Braintalk, and use my camera. It has a front and rear facing camera. I find the camera hard to use because the tablet is so much larger and heavier than my iPhone. I had rather use the camera on my iPhone and it takes good pictures, but the tablet is better for going on the internet and coming on here to read. I can go on Face Book, but I am not much of a FB person. You might not have that problem with the camera since you would be stronger than I am. I did have to have some help setting up my e-mail. It would not accept the password I had so I called my internet provider and got a nice man who helped me set up a new password and then stayed on the line until he could send me an e-mail and see if it came through on my computer. So I feel that I am moving along with the tablet though it is hard for me to learn to type on it.

I saw that Amazon has these same tablets now for $99.99. They lowered their price, probably due to QVC selling them so much lower.

Glad to know you were saying your hemoglobin is higher than it has been. I misread that the first time. I am really glad you got your booster shot. I am hopefully going to get mine or either a full shot in the next couple of weeks.

Something you might want to keep in mind - some of the places that Ann had accounts with like your internet provider and any businesses she might have dealt with might help you with your passwords. Sometimes they will and sometime they will not.

Hope you enjoyed the visit from your Nephew and his wife.

          Take care,
          Virginia

          Thanks Agate!

            From Tom Cat on Sunday:
This golf cart is carrying about 400 lbs. of logs at a time. It's my main mover. This is the cart that Joe will be helping me take over to a repair shop this Friday. It will be there for the winter. They will be having the engine totally overhauled. I'll pick it up in spring. When using it this summer, it was smoking frequently when carrying heavy loads.

We had nice weather for a few days, getting into the 60's. Much to do this week.

Had some nice long conversations with nephew, John, and wife Bunny. John is my sister's son.

This is a full week, with only a couple of open days. I do have to go see my sister. She's 86 and has had heart troubles for years, and several surgeries in the past. Hell or high water, I need to go see her this week.

Maggie is sitting on a pillow next to me, purring away. She just begged for and got 3 different treats. She's a happy, SPOILED camper now.

Take care & virtual hugs to you all.

In the future I'll post a separate thread each time there's a message from Tom Cat if that is OK with people here--? These long threads don't seem to work very well.

Agate, I've been catching up on some of TC's messages. Most of the pictures you've been referencing I can not see. Only a couple of them, including the last two in this thread, appear on my screen. I'm not sure why.

Ralph, when you talked about the museum, I thought of the Paine Art Center across the street. Did you consider that as a possible destination for the dollhouses?

I had not realized that the houses were so large. I fear that a separate room/area might have to be built which would mean fundraisers. But the collection does present a way to help with that. If the houses are photographed and made into a book the place (museum or art center) could sell them. I know Paine has a gift shop as I'm sure the museum does too. A second book of the Catterville story and photos of the dollhouses relevant to it could also be published.

I do hope they find a good home.

That might put too many threads on the board which would cause another problem.

Thank you for calling this to my attention! I'm not finding photos where there should be photos either, now that you mention it. I have no idea what happened to them. Just as a test I'll try reposting one of them to see if it shows up this time. On 10/22 he sent a photo of himself and one of the cats:

I see that the photo I posted from Tom Cat yesterday in this thread is still here. I used a slightly different method of posting it. I checked the "Cat Dancer's dollhouses" thread and found all of those photos gone as well, and that is disturbing because they were posted by a different route. I copied them for Cat Dancer's Facebook page. Tom Cat's photos have all come via the Facebook messenger system.

I'm going to do some more investigating. This might be a matter for the admins here to look into. We can't have our images disappearing.

I've posted a message about the vanishing photos in the Moderator Connection thread, which will be seen only by the people in charge here, but I said pretty much what I said here. I really really hope that the photos can be restored if someone waves a magic wand.

Ralph is replying to this message here (yesterday evening):
Been busy between light dustings of snow, getting the outside front yard winter ready. Now I'm going to answer Parsi first. Yes, I know about the Paine Art Center. It and the Oshkosh Public Museum were tax writeoffs to the city from lumber baron families. I also spent about a year helping put up display cases, etc., after I got out of college there. It's my home town. The doll houses and the "Catterville" write-up on them Ann specifically wanted to go as a donation and as one unit. Originally to a doll museum in ? Nebraska. They never answered me back.

Oshkosh would be a second ideal place, if they want and have space for them. There are about 12 doll houses. If Ann hadn't told you about all of them, maybe that's something I could do this winter if you like. I had camera pictures of some of them in detail, but I'm not sure what drive these are on. I would hope to give these a proper home before I go. Moving them with their contents will be a real challenge. Almost all the figures are porcelain cats, hand painted, with handmade clothes. The ceramic molds for the cats are from England. Ann purchased them from an English lady going out of business. She had someone in Iowa make them up for her. So it's quite a collection.

And this is from Tom Cat today:

Brrr! It's cold and wet out. A heavy 1 1/2 in of the white stuff fell last night. I shoveled off in front of the front door and the ramp. Need to think about taking out the ATV plow on the drive. If it's not frozen underneath, you can tear up a lot of gravel. If we get some sun today this could melt back on the drive. The temperature is right at freezing at present. Decisions, decisions. I need another cup of coffee. It does look pretty out.

I'll be going out & working on this snow part of the morning. I need to get a couple of paths cut so the postal folks can come up here if need be. Having a salmon and cream cheese on an English muffin this morning. Take care

                              From Tom Cat on Thursday:
[QUOTE]Just getting ready for the morning. The furry kids are fed their morning special, and their litter boxes are cleaned, so they're set for the day.

Sun is starting to come up; it's 24° and hot after the last zero mornings. No snow yet. Removed 1 1/2 in yesterday. Took me on and off most of the day. The ATV plow is manually lifted with a long lever. I have an electric replacement, but couldn't find anyone to put it on. Hopefully will by next year. That's hard on the wrist, shoulder, and back.

Have a couple of cleaning ladies coming today. Not quite sure what they will all do. Place is a mess, mainly with papers all over the place.

Expecting up to 6 inches of snow over today and on into the weekend. Birds have been really showing up these days at the feeders, along with red and grey squirrels. Gold finch, chickadees, tufted titmice, downy woodpeckers, red-breasted woodpeckers, nuthatches, and a couple of blue jays have all been stopping by. In this cold weather, it's a zoo out there when you feed them.

And as for the little red squirrel, they are found mainly around wood lots in urban areas, and forests. They eat mainly seeds, but also bugs, mushrooms, etc. Their favorite food is pine seeds of all kinds. They'll go up a pine tree, bite off the cones, come down and tear the seeds out of the cones. They do eat some of them in the treetops too. They are cute, with a distinct white circle around their eyes. I wish this Kindle would take better pictures, so you could see their bright red-brown fur.

Need to get dressed and eat breakfast now, before the help comes. Looks overcast; no sun coming over the trees this morning. Take care.[
