Maybe keeping Gabapentin on hand should be at the top of your list of priorities, Howie. If it prevents those seizures, it's a must-have, or at least that's how I'd look at it.

A bit of excitement here this morning because my new next-door neighbor hadn't been seen in a while, and delivered packages were piling up outside her door. Some of us were alarmed and contacted appropriate people. Police came in, building manager came over, and the poor woman was found on the floor but one of the police told me she was OK. I saw her being taken out and I believe I heard her talking--so I hope she'll be OK. She's in a power chair and has significant eye problems but she's so new--been here only a couple of months--that no one knows much about her.

She has a cat, and no one knows who will take care of the cat in her absence but, hospitals being the way they are now--tending not to keep patients there--maybe she'll be back soon.

I was in the midst of doing laundry and so was involved to the extent of providing her phone number, which I happened to have. I try to connect with any new near neighbors by giving them my phone number, and they often provide their number to me.

Howie, I wonder how you would contact anyone if you happened to find yourself in a similar situation? Do you have a neighbor's contact information? Or is some family member close enough to drop by?

      Howie ~

It is disturbing that you are still having problems refilling your Gabapentin. This has been happening for what seems like years. It is dangerous for you to go 4 days without it, as is obvious by the fact that you had seizures. As Virginia and I have said before, it is dangerous to drive, when your seizures are uncontrolled. If you aren't taking your medication, then you basically put yourself at risk, as well as others on the road.

Please call your prescribing physician next week to report that you ran out of Gabapentin for 4 days and had seizures. Your doctor needs to advocate for you to have your prescription filled so that you never run out of it. Call your pharmacist as well, so that both sides of the transaction are aware that you have seizures without Gabapentin. Did you also cut back on your doses before you ran out? I know you have done that in the past.

My concern is that if you continue to have seizures, they will beget more and possibly different types of seizures. Believe me, you do not want that to happen.

Seizure meds are just as vital to protecting you as insulin is for diabetes, or heart meds are, or blood pressure meds are. If we stop taking those meds, we are at risk of serious outcomes.

Yes, we notice when you are absent, and we become concerned. That is who we are, friends who care and worry about each other. In our case, you might refer to some of us as friHENds.

Please take care of yourself and ensure that you do not run out of Gabapentin again.

What an upsetting event at your residence! Thankfully, you and your neighbors noticed the packages accruing and contacted authorities. Were paramedics called? Was she taken by ambulance to the hospital? I wonder how long she had been on the floor. Such a scary situation! I hope she has loved ones, who will be there to support her.

How are you? Are you mending from your fall? Breathing and pain better?

Well, it's the last day of 2021, which began with an insurrection and COVID vaccines. We end the year with break through COVID, even for people with boosters, like jingle, because COVID wasn't handled properly in 2020. We are about to enter our third year of COVID.

Although cases are rising, the college football Bowl games are being played. The Rose Parade will happen tomorrow morning. People are crowding into Times Square to watch the ball drop. COVID? What COVID?

People want their pre-COVID life back so much that they are willing to risk it to be in large crowds to welcome 2022. Of course, all of these events are corporate sponsored, so it's all about the $$$$$, as usual.

And, if we think that politics has been hot this year, 2022 is Mid term elections.

It is difficult not to feel depressed and glum thinking about all of this. Remember Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Collectively, we can focus on the change we want with hope and faith that it will be a better world for all of us. We can work for the greater good together.

Let us all have a hopeful, healthy New Year ~

      Love & Light,

      ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Rose, I've been looking around for someone who might know whether the neighbor was brought back after being taken out on a gurney. I'm also concerned about her cat--who might be looking after it if she's away? I hope she wasn't on the floor very long but fear she was. Others in this situation here have yelled out and someone has heard, but if she yelled, nobody heard.

It's really appalling that the Times Square celebration going forward. People are beyond belief. I had a holiday card this year from a couple who have 4 children, and there was a brief note, mostly this: "We decided we'd had enough of staying at home, so we rediscovered travel! Our trips in 2021 included Seattle, Olympic National Park, Puerto Vallarta, and Las Vegas. We enjoyed Puerto Vallarta so much that we're going back right after New Year--which will be right after we spend our Xmas break in New Orleans and Orlando."

Some people are going to party on. No matter what.

Agate, those people must also have some money to blow. I hope they don't blow it on the hospital bills they might accrue.

Would the building manager come back in to see what is happening to this ladies cat?

I don't know but I doubt it. He was already angry about being called over here. I'm going to try calling this woman's number tomorrow and see if she can hear me this time. Another time when I tried to call her she couldn't hear me and hung up on me. Most people seem to hear me OK on the phone though I don't have a very loud voice. I'll try to speak up but don't know if I can get through to her. I'm fairly sure they took her to a hospital and she's still there but if the number she gave me is a cellphone number and she still has it with her, I just might be able to find out about the cat from her. Maybe she has a relative or friend who comes in to take care of the cat at such times.

The problem is that she's so new here and people don't know if she has any "people" who stop by sometimes. If someone has been here a while, we neighbors get to know their helpers and family as they come and go. Sometimes they introduce themselves. Nobody knows a thing about this woman except for some brief conversations in the laundry room that revealed nothing of any use just now.

--Yes, travel does cost, doesn't it? I had no idea this family was so well off. In fact, I was so surprised by this news of all of their travels that I thought maybe they were joking. I went to one of their Facebook pages and found that it's no joke. They really have been doing all of this traveling. I'm glad that visiting me wasn't on their itinerary.
