    Update on departing doctor

In the November chitchat thread I posted about the way I found out that my primary care doctor was about to leave--by happening to call for an appointment and being told in an offhand way that she was leaving in January. No announcement, no letter.

Well, it seems I just needed to wait a while. Yesterday's mail brought a letter, and it eased my mind.

I am writing to let you know that I have made the difficult decision to move out of state.... My last day at XXX will be December 23.

I am honored that you have entrusted me with your medical care and I am saddened to say goodbye to each of you.

I know I will be leaving your care in very qualified hands. I leave behind some wonderful colleagues, any of whom would be privileged to assume your care going forward. To learn more about our other providers, you may access our Website at ... or pick up a brochure at our office....
It's a boilerplate letter like others I've received from other doctors but I'm glad that it came my way. Better late than never. She was a good doctor, I felt, though I had been fortunate in not needing any big problems tended to while she was my doctor, and so maybe I don't know whether she was really very adept, but I liked the way she didn't pressure me.
    SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Good for your Doctor. When my last two have left there has been no notification at all. I found out both times by just happening to go to the office. Now I really need a good Doctor and I am stuck with, I am afraid, the worse Doctor I have had in a long time.

For a boilerplate, it is well crafted and personal. Now, you have the information you need to schedule appointments and find out about your new doctor. I hope your current doctor was on the panel to choose your new doctor, since she has served you well.

I'm glad to see you here. I hope that means that you are feeling better. I'm sorry that you are dissatisfied with your new doctor. I hope that in time, you will be able to establish a rapport.

We went through a couple of family doctors, before we were blessed with a young, eager, and hopeful physician, who worked tirelessly for Michael, Jon, and Jim for 20 years. He even volunteered to make home visits, but the "corporation" wouldn't allow him to do that.

May we all find dedicated, caring physicians ~

      Love & Light,

      ❤️❤️❤️❤️
