(OT) Father's Day, and Google's image

Happy Father's Day to fathers everywhere!

If anyone else has Google Chrome as a browser, have you noticed that the "doodle" for Father's Day show a big "hand" and a smaller "hand" that have made blue-ink impressions of themselves on white paper? I tried to get a copy of this on here but it won't show up. The hands don't look quite right to me. They are covered with odd red splotches, and I can't think why.

Is anyone else wondering what is the point of the red splotches on the two hands? I realize that the image is meant to show a father and a son doing blue-paint impressions on paper with their hands, but why do the hands look as if they have a skin disease? Surely those aren't tattoos? I've tried to find this out but no luck. People think it's cute and adorable. What am I not getting here?

They almost look as if they belong to an animal. Is that the point--that humans are just animals, and these might or might not be human hands? If they're animals, we should remember that animals are often fathers too?

Trying again to post the image. It's somewhat bigger when you see it coming at you in Google Chrome. Google Father's Day 2022.png

Hmm, maybe that is what it's meant to be.

          There are 4 different Doodles:

They depict aging, teaching, and loving. The child and Dad are young in the one you're showing. Another one shows the younger hand on an older hand, as in an adult child with an elderly Dad.

I think the style of the artwork was the artist's choice. It reminds me of impressionism, like Monet, Degas and Renoir.

It might be a way of conveying various skin tones. The hands and arms aren't realistically drawn, so, the intention is visceral. To me, they are poignant.

I can't imagine that Google would want something depicting monkey pox on Father's Day, and I'm sure that Google would get a ton of negative feedback if they did. It would be so inappropriate.

This is just my interpretation. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

          Love & Light,

          ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I must have missed what was the artist's version of human arms, a somewhat stylized interpretation--no fingernails shown on the hands, for instance--not meant to be a realistic representation.

Google has replaced this Father's Day doodle with a Juneteenth doodle:

I thought my original post was clear but in case it wasn't, I was focusing on the art work and not on the sentiment it was reflecting. I had no intention of criticizing Father's Day or what the hands/arms are doing in the images. The father-son connection can be lifelong and can enhance the lives of everyone touched by it. My problem was merely with the way the hands and arms were shown. It reminded me of all too many diseases that show up looking somewhat like those images.

People react differently to art. What one person likes, another person doesn't. It was just my opinion.

Looks like Google Pox to me. I hope they did replace it with something different. That was a strange image to show with the Monkey Pox pandemic just beginning.

Reminded me of what my own hands and arms looked like when I had eczema.

I don't know that Google had any complaints about the image. They may have changed it midway into June 19 so as to give Juneteenth equal time. Two holidays falling on the same date might have been the reason for the change.

Sam told me Juneteenth was the day for everyone to get on their knees and worship the almighty cat. Is that true?

I suppose treats need to be offered to any nearby cat too. Sam just needs to think this thing through a little better and see that on all holidays there needs to be this kind of observance. Think big, Sam.

The thing is, Sam would want all the treats. She's just that kind of cat and Howie is that kind of cat Daddy.

Today's Google image is a moving tribute to Anne Frank in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the publication of her diary:
