Happy Day to you too! Independence is a good word for our community so we should celebrate with real hope and joy

I wonder how English people feel about us celebrating this day so many years after the fact? England is our closest friend in the world anyway.

Hmm. Come to think of it, on Canada Day (Juy 1) the Canadians aren't celebrating their independence from England. They're observing the unification of the three separate colonies of Canada that occurred in 1867. They didn't gain real independence from England until 1982 and apparently don't celebrate it.

Maybe we're keen on celebrating our independence because we had a war over it. The rockets' red glare, etc. People enjoy fireworks.

Pets don't enjoy fireworks. I like looking at them but you have to feel sorry for the pets and for the people for whom the noise is torture.
