Virtual Smart Home Assessment Research Study

    Hi all!

    If you are:
    • 18 or older
    • Have a physical disability that affects your ability to control or access your home environment
    • Require caregiver assistance (unpaid or paid), you may be eligible to participate in our research study through the University of Pittsburgh.
You would complete two sessions one hour each. I will ask you about technology you do or don't use in your daily life, your effort to complete tasks, and your satisfaction with how you complete tasks. We will pay you $40 to thank you for your time.

If interested please contact Dr. Andrea Fairman email: andrea.fairman@jwu.edu phone: 401-598-4765.

    Thank you!

Just reminding everyone that Palma does have permission to post studies here :)

Palma this thread was in the feeds subforum where it wasn't going to gain any traction so I moved it to the main MS forum.
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

    Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

Hmm. I thought I applied to take part in this study some time ago but apparently I sent an e-mail with a question but never had a reply. I tried again just now, using the e-mail address provided in Palma's post, but received an automated reply directing me to another person. I'll update this post with the more recent information if the study is still going on.

Who did you get redirected to contact? There's more than one person working on this study and perhaps responsibilities got moved around.

I had asked if the study was still going on but the reply, from a Nancy Dooley, just gave me the name of the university with which Dr. Andrea Fairman is now affiliated (University of Pittsburgh). Nancy Dooley says she knows nothing about this study. Since Palma's thread about it is from 2 years ago, maybe the study has ended?

I found this about Dr. Fairman:

And when I saw it, I figured you probably knew things about that study that I didn't know and you knew it was still going on. Some studies do go on and on for years but this apparently isn't one of them.
