HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGATE (Belated but heartfelt)

Agate, I hope you had a really good day yesterday!! I remembered your Birthday earlier in the month and marked it on my calendar.. I apologize for not remembering it yesterday. I didn't go near that calendar, but that is really no excuse. I goofed up. I hope you had a good day!!!

I am on my little tablet, and can't post many emojis from here. Will someone please post a large chocolate cake and some beautiful flowers for Agate?

Virginia, you're not late--my birthday is today actually. Thank you so much for remembering!!!

I've been having a really excellent day, especially since the effects of the fall I had on the 16th are finally easing up. I did have to cancel plans for a visit yesterday from my son and grandson but we'll catch up on that visit in a couple of weeks.

The wound had started bleeding again and I wasn't feeling so well. I'm glad I took yesterday just to rest and take care of the head bump.

I even called a nurse line that apparently is available by phone for Medicaid people. I found out about it by just prowling around on the Internet. An urgent care center I looked into mentioned a 5-hour wait, and it being a holiday weekend, I decided to make do with a call to this nurse, who was quite helpful and immediately asked if I was taking any bloodthinners.

She meant drugs like warfarin but it turns out she also meant aspirin. I was taking quite a bit of aspirin since the fall because of the painful thumb, foot, arm and back. I've cut all of the aspirin out for now and am very very glad that the bleeding has stopped. And the bruised face is looking less bruised. I'm having a very happy birthday!

I wasn't looking forward to waiting around for hours somewhere and having to have antibiotics and maybe a tetanus shot.

Now the trick of washing my hair without getting too close to the bandage but I did this a week ago and should be able to do it again.

No need for any cake or flowers! Feeling better is a huge birthday bonus.

How are things going there, Virginia? And we haven't had much news from other people here lately. I wonder what's been happening.

Agate, so glad you are feeling better and wound has stopped bleeding. On a number of aspirin I am sure it was getting a good start. Maybe you will be on the mend for sure this time. A shame you had to miss your visit with your Grandson and your son, but I am glad they can make it up later.

Oh my goodness, flatcap! What a feast for the eyes! It's better than being taken for a ride in the country--all this beautiful spring scenery right here and I don't have to go anywhere to enjoy it. Views like those restore the soul.

Virginia, I did the hair-washing but it was a mistake. The bleeding started up again but it was much easier to control now that I've stopped the aspirin. Bending my head forward for the shampooing must have been the wrong thing.

This wound and I will get along somehow. The important thing is that I feel better and look a lot less "blasted." The nurse asked if the head bump was more than 2 inches wide, and I said it wasn't but I was estimating. I measured it today, and it's only an inch and a half. I'll measure it from time to time to make sure it's going down.

I also did that load of laundry today but I took it very easy and worked on folding and putting it away only when I felt like it. I often do laundry that way anyway, stretching it out over the better part of the day but that's OK so long as I don't have too many other things to do.

Thank you, Snuggles! In a couple of weeks we'll do the visit. I'm hoping that by then I'll look more like a human being and less like something blasted. I'm getting there.

Postponed or missed occasions are very routine by now. The picnics/funerals/weddings/parties I've missed, or had very pared-down versions of--there'd be quite a long list of them by now.

Many thanks! The older a person gets, the faster those birthdays come along.
