    A couple of newbies

If anyone is interested in reaching out to other sections of BrainTalk, please don't forget to look into "New Posts" (in the dropdown menu at the top left of the screen). A couple of probably legitimate new people have posted recently. Even if you can't say anything helpful in reply to their specific questions, it might help just to let new people know there are real people here. Just a "Hi" or a "Welcome" would make that point.

And when I did a search today, looking for something like hydrocephalus in an attempt to reply to one of those newcomers, I was surprised to see that one of the first results that came up on the Google search was another thread from BrainTalk itself. This never did happen in the past, and it was one of the reasons often given for the fact that few people seemed to find BrainTalk any more.

It looks as if somehow that situation may have been remedied.

Just for fun, I googled "neurology forum" (without quotes), and BrainTalk came up third on the list.

I wonder if people aren't using the word "forum" in their searches. I have no idea why, but it seems people are on social media these days instead of forums, even for serious discussions. I guess sounding off using incomprehensible phrases is more covenient for them when what they are reallly doing is conflating their inability to form complete sentences with their laziness. With text messaging running rampant these days and public education in decline, that is common.

Speaking of "social media," I call it antisocial media. I think that's a more accurate descriptor.

I've looked in on several MS groups on Facebook, not just once but quite a number of times, and am underwhelmed by the way they work when it comes to a discussion of anything. I don't know if it's the tiny space you're allowed for a message or just the general format, but it simply does not work for any serious back-and-forth among the participants.

Maybe it's that there's always too much else going on on any Facebook page. You feel cramped there, or at least I do.

I don't have any social media accounts except this one. I have never been on Facebook or any of them.

I used to read tweets from a certain deposed politician, but that was mainly for fun. Sometimes, the comebacks were hilarious. If anyone ever deserved to be the butt of a joke, that person did and still does.

I can't imagine who that person might be.
