I am very much in favor of NOT falling and I am conscious of how vulnerable I am to a fall.

Agate, you are right about buildings not being very accessible. My dentist is all on one floor, but handicap parking is to the side of the building. My brother brought up the point that the spaces might even be taken. I had already thought of that. He takes me right up to the front door, eliminating that concern for me.

I had hoped not to go the uber or lyft route. They no longer have good reputation as far as their drivers go.

Yes, I'd be uneasy with Uber or Lyft drivers. It sounds as if they have far less supervision than ordinary taxi drivers. And once someone is behind the wheel of a vehicle you're in, you're pretty much at that person's mercy.

That's an unsettling thought I don't like to think very often.

I wish everyone a joyous Christmas with lots of celebration.
I've been doing lots of baking and I think it's just about finished, but there's lots of candy to be made. We've had the big family celebration so on Christmas Day my sister, my cousin and I are going to the local Chinese restaurant for lunch -- that's what we did for Thanksgiving.

Well I am tired of living in the emotional support forum all by myself LOLOL. So here I am!! Hello everyone. I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season. I splurged this year, a gift to myself for all my accomplishments these last two years. A 7' pre-lit multi-function twinkling tree LOL. It has taken two days so far to put it together, spread out all the branches, let rest, put on lights. I have a couple more strings today then proper decorations. This year I am using all of my bestest decorations. Despite the cats. I have beautiful glass decorations that haven't seen the light of day in years. Mostly for fear of them getting broken and because my tree was table top size. Not much room there. So for the last two weeks I have been working on my emotional clutter in the basement. I have been putting it off for two years. That included about ten to twelve boxes of Christmas decorations. So I gave a bunch of stuff away and kept my favorites. I am putting it all on the tree this year. Well....LOL, whatever I can get to fit.

Merry Christmas everyone, hoping you all have a lovely, peaceful holiday season!!!

                  Happy holidays to all!

Chris, I hope your tree turns out to be worth the effort. The cats will be sure to appreciate the decorations though maybe not in exactly the way you do.... Deck the halls with boughs of holly, etc.!

I'm a certified philistine when it comes to Christmas. I'm not at all religious. It's a case of 'eat, drink, and be merry for me. Each festive period I buy snacks to eat, and hope the Christmas TV schedule is good. I try to reduce the amount of snacks etc, but still buy too much. It's been many years since the Christmas TV schedule has been good.

For me, Christmas has very little religious connotations. I know too much now lol. I enjoy the festivities and the lovely decorations, watching little ones enjoy, and giving. I love giving but I dread having to buy gifts. If it wasn't so much about the money I would stress less. This year has been the best year I have had in decades. But I swear to god if I see or hear Mariah Carey one more time I may get ill.

Those of us who don't observe Christmas in the religious way can still enjoy observing the return of light to the world, which has been celebrated everywhere since the beginning of time so far as I can figure out. All of the bright lights and vivid colors just now seem to be another way of saying we should be glad that the sun will be showing up more soon.

We do have to get through January and February and March, of course, but at least there will be more and more of the sun to melt the snow faster.

It's a nice time to show the people you care about that you appreciate them. It cheers them up. Giving gifts can be a problem but it's best not to overthink it. I get concerned about finding a gift that the person would really like and have to keep telling myself that it's not the gift--it's the thought behind it.

Chris, so glad to have you join us. It sounds to me as if you have been a busy beaver lately, with taking on the job of putting up a really nice Christmas tree. I love glass ornaments but I just hope your cats don't like them as well. I have a huge poinsettia that one of my brothers sent me. I have had some large ones through the years but not as big as this one. It is red and white. I have it on my glass coffee table, but I think it would look better on something a little taller. Then it would suffice as my tree.

My family Christmas will be at my brother's on Christmas Eve.

Jingle, I think you need a vacation from all the doing lately. I am sure your family appreciates you. Hope you enjoy your Christmas dinner.

Tim, I also hope you enjoy all your Christmas snacks.

Agate, I just don't give many gifts at Christmas. I used to give a lot, but things have changed. Giving to the little kids is about it for me now. We all exchanged gifts for a number of years until I think we all got tired of trying to think of something that anyone wanted or needed. That's when we went to just the kids.

                          Merry Christmas Everyone!

A poinsettia will make a great Christmas tree! I have a poinsettia too. My neighbor gave it to me a couple of weeks ago and it's still looking good right outside my front door.

I've cut way down on gift-giving at this season too.

I don't want to be anti-Christmas but I don't miss those white Christmases so many people cherish. So far here there's no sign of snow and I don't miss it at all.

Thank you for the welcome y'all. I have had to cut back gift giving also. My two adult boys and a brother. My best friend usually gets something but I didn't get to see her last year so she is getting those gifts this year LOLOL. She knows, we laughed about it. We've been friends for 30 years, she doesn't care. Plus she has money so buying for her is a trick. I have learned that anything cat is a winner.

I got a free small poinsettia from Meijers that is red and white. It is only the second one I have ever owned. It is a lovely little thing. I surely miss my plants. I had tons but when I moved I lost most of them and now......well cats LOL.

My tree is decorated and is lovely. It is huge and kind of heavy. I kept my small one for when I can no longer manage the big one and will pass the big one down to my oldest. I watched a YT video on Christmas light restoration, I have a ridiculous amount of lights that I have saved over the years doing the yearly struggle of getting enough strings working, and that video showed me an easy way to get lights working again. I managed over twenty strings of lights with about four more to go through. I wish I had known the trick years ago.

Having homemade pizza for Christmas dinner. Thanksgiving we do traditional, Christmas we make something we love but dont' have very often so pizza it is this year.

We do have some snow and it has been pretty cold here but we are going to touch on the upper 40s here this weekend so I am sure it won't last long.

LOLOL y'all aren't used to me here I tend to go on and on but I will cut this here.

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas!!

Chris, thank you so much for sharing the photo of that spectacular tree! Truly it should be a cat's delight....but I hope for your sake that it will survive any onslaughts.

And what is the trick for getting tree lights to work? The only "trick" I know of is tightening the bulbs.
