Keep On Moving - January 2025

    Sunshine 2's message:

[QUOTE]MS creates some real challenges to keep on moving. It helps to inspire each other on how to find ways to move.

Did you stretch in your bed, swing your arms, roll side to side today? Or perhaps you did housework? Or exercised in a pool? Tracked your count of steps? Chased your cat around the home? Pushed the wheelchair wheels with your arms at the store? Post them here and we can support and egg each other on.

REMEMBER: this is a keep on moving thread, not keep on exercising! Any moving is important it doesn't have to be exercise! Even Science proves that.[/QUOTE

If you do New Year's resolutions (sorry but I don't), maybe one of them involves exercising?

Looks as if I need to step up my game. December's average step count was lower than it's been in a couple of years: 1,504 steps/day (based on 27 days). November's was 1,601.

I have neighbors who are walking around the building for exercise too. I'm going to try to do more of this and keep up with 30 seconds of standing on one foot, then 30 seconds on the other foot, for whatever good it might be doing.

What have you been doing to stay active?

I think the standing on one foot even if slightly holding to a counter or something is a good weight bearing exercise. When my new doctor found out I was unable to do walking outside he suggested I do that.

Agate, your step count is very good, especially since this was during a holiday month and also in the winter.

I'm glad to know your doctor recommended that exercise. I'd been wondering how useful it was to stand there while tottering on one foot for 30 seconds and then on the other one.

Standing on my right foot is much harder than on the left, and that didn't make sense because my left side has always been weaker in every way. I guess that the right foot fracture a year or so ago might be the reason.
