    Farewell to Jeanie Z

Very sad news. Jeanie Z passed away on January 27. I had an e-mail today from her DIL who is letting people in Jeanie's address book know. She says there will be a small memorial service for her in the next month or two.

She was a valued member of this board for as long as I can remember.

    We will miss her.

I am heart sick. Jeanie was a good person and I will miss knowing she is there. I feel really bad because I had not called her in so long. I let my own problems get in the way of thinking about her circumstances.

Do you know what happened to her Agate?

No, there were no details. I do recall that not so long ago the DIL said that Jeanie had been losing ground. I believe I posted about it. I'll write to the DIL again to ask whether there is an obituary notice and I'll try to think of a way to ask about more details.

Jeanie's DIL is passing along this Facebook post by her husband, Jeanie's son Andy:

To my family and our friends, it is with great sorrow and pain that my mother Jean Zeis has passed. She was a remarkable, caring, and loving mother, wife, and friend. Everyone who knew her also felt her love and care. She raised my brother Jim and I to be gentlemen.

She worked as a RN nurse caring for people and also helped counsel and therapy many for AA.
She also fostered and cared for many dogs over the years.
Mom I love you and know that your at peace now with God and Jim.

We will have a private family service. Thank all of you for your condolences and prayers for our family at this time.

At a future date when the families schedules align there will be a small memorial and spreading of her ashes.

I have contact information for several people who were long-time members here but they haven't checked in here in a long time. I have no idea whether any of them would want to know about Jeanie's passing and so it looks as if they will just need to check in here to find out or maybe they've maintained contact with her or her family and will find out that way.

Carla, Jeanie's daughter-in-law, who was married to her deceased son called me this evening. It was a lengthy conversation. She was very nice. She found my telephone number in Jeanie's personal phone book. Jeanie had been in the hospital back in the summer and had not been doing well.

Agate, I told her that you and I would keep the above post bumped up in case anyone else who knew Jeanie came on would see it.

I think that going by Jeanie's address book is probably best because those are the people she is most likely to have wanted to stay in contact with. I'm so glad Carla called you.

I agree that keeping this thread bumped up is a great idea. There are people who drop in after being away for months and even years.

I am so sad to hear this news. I remember when Jeanie was an active member of this forum. I specifically remember when she went to her class reunion (I think that was it) a few years ago and drove there in her van. I was in awe of her determination. May she rest in peace.

Snuggles, thank you for that recollection! I had forgotten it but yes, she was zipping around in her van and even getting to that reunion.

                      Thank you, Agate, for posting.

RIP, Jeanie. Your place here has been empty for some time and you've been missed. I'm guilty of not reaching out to you but you were in my thoughts. Your struggle has been real but now it's over. [HEART]
