Ouch! Back spasticity has returned with a vengence.

I woke up this morning and it hurt every time I moved. The muscles in my back are at war with each other, from my shoulders, down to my tail bone. No matter which way I move, it hurts. I guess I'll take some extra Zanaflex and see if that helps.

I walk like I'm 100 years old, slowly and carefully. If I had any Vicodin left, I'd be taking some.

Enough of my whining... I need to feed my dog and myself.

    Until next time...

Sorry that you've been hit with this. Do you think there's something that triggers this kind of attack?

Hi Jendi, sorry about the old back. Muscles that spasm are usually weak ones. Try my Favorite back exercise... Lay flat on bed/ anywhere you are comfy and very slowly inch/bring your knees up to your chin, hold, let down slowly, stretch out your legs while flat....then repeat. This eliminated the small of my back killer spasms.

      Feel Better soon.

I do that exercise, Sally--twice a day. I do three of them each time and hold each one for a count of 15. Along with some other stretching exercises I do, it has probably helped me not to wake up with bad thigh or shin cramps .

For some years I was having mid-back pain that kept on for many hours, sometimes for a day or more. I couldn't do anything at all when this pain was going on. It was due to kidney or bladder stones but sometimes taking Soma (carisoprodol) helped. And sometimes it didn't. Soma is an antispasmodic.

Knees to chin? Are you two kidding me???

I am having trouble getting up from being on the floor- like things from a lower shelf. Right side feels weak and twisty. And painful.

Will try to find my chin. I am doubtful but I have another RX for PT! Yeah!

          Hope you improve, Jendie.

Well, knees sort of pointing toward the chin. Actually a few inches away from it. And I've been doing this exercise for about 5 years now--so maybe practice helps.

Thank you Agate, Ann, and Sally!

I subdued this attack with massage. I can't really rub my own back, but my boyfriend does a good job of taming the spasms.
