:) Hi everyone. Gary I hope your house comes along nicely. Virginia I hope your brother is ok. Gabrielle take care of you too. I'd give Cherie that advice too but she would ignore it. Sally is you dog going to visit you?

David and I were at the VA hospital from 9 AM until 4:30 yesterday. It was a long day on my scooter when I am so sick, but he needs me to drive him. David's blisters still giving him pain. He did get a RX to improve his appetite as he has lost 40 lbs and his skin is just hanging.

My cough is still awful. The x-ray did not show anyting. I called to make an appointment with a pulmonologist (a lung doctor) and the only apppintment he had was on 12/19 so I have to put up with coughing my head off until then. My glands near my ear are swollen too.

I have no desire to do Thanksgiving or Christmas. Mother is sleeping a lot now. She has aides 24/7 and it is costing about $185 per day. That is all we can do right now.

Saying lots of prayers that I don't have COPD. I personally think Mother was better off in rehab. She fell in the bathroom last night. She did not call the aide until she was on the floor. She did have her Life Alert button on.

I hope all of you have a good Thanksgiving. You are all in my prayers. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, I'm so sorry your mother fell--and your cough persists. Does nothing help? No cough syrup or whatever? Could you have an infection that would be helped by antibiotics?

I've had a lot of problems with nonstop coughing and know how miserable it can be.

One problem with the Life Alert button that you wear is that when you've fallen, you're apt to be disoriented and forget you have that button you can press. I wonder if that's what happened with your mother.

I hope better times are ahead for you and your family.

:) Hi everyone. I have had eight courses of antibiotics. The x-ray showed nothing. Jeanie :)

Sorry Jeanie, things have not gotten much better for you. As Renee said I hope for better times in the future. Going to the VA Hospital has got to be hard on
you. Sitting on your scooter so long and waiting so long, with just the MS would be bad enough, but add the cough that just doesn't want to go away
and that really has got to be tough.

Gary, I hope things will look up when the house gets started. I feel like as it moves along you will be able to get some of your excitement back. We miss that
            around here.

Agate, Ann, Renee, Sally, and everyone hope you have had a good week-end.

Maybe it's time to bring this November thread back up for a while.

Anyone care to know my latest lab test results and doctor's visit report?

My BP was 100/57. Cholesterol 156, triglycerides 61, HDL 65.2, LDL 78, fasting glucose 88.

The doctor prescribed Flonase nasal spray for the sinusitis problems. I was reluctant to try any new drug but finally got around to the first dose today, after waiting a couple of days.
              So far, so good.

The doctor also recommended I sign up for MyChart.com. Is this a nationwide arrangement, I wonder? You sign up and can get your test results online, or you can e-mail the doctor, or make an appointment.

I tried making an appointment. It won't be for 3 months from now but I wanted to see how this worked. I had my choice of days and times without having to deal with somebody on the phone.
              Great!

The trouble with calling for an appointment is that I always feel I ought to accept whatever day and time they offer even if it isn't the best for me.

Hope everyone is doing well. Those who have heavy responsibilities, and there are several on this board, must have to pace themselves very, very carefully so as not to get overtired.

              Not easy.

EDITED TO ADD: Hang it all! I forgot that Peg had started a new thread. I should have posted in the Turkey thread. Sorry, Peg!

                Agate those are great numbers!!

We are having freezing fog this morning. My wife said that the door handle was frozen shut this morning and that her bus slipped all over the road. You have to be careful stopping to pick up kids when the bus slides past the bus stop. It is supposed to warm up and rain for the next 3 or 4 days. Meaning we could get as much as 3/4 of an inch over that time. A real down pour for the high desert.

Well I did not win the Lottery. What is up with that? I wanted to win and I even bought 2 (yes two) tickets!

:) Hi everyone. Sally I hope your DD brings your dog to visit you? Gary I cannot imagine living where it gets so cold. It is 75 here today.

David is off his chemo right now as his blood platelets went too low. However I think the test was a mistake as since then it has been about where it was before that one time. His feet blisters are like hard rocks and he has to walk and stand on them.

My cough is slightly better and I have the appointment with the lung doctor on the 19th. My Mother is sleeping a lot now. I think the aides she has 24/7 are giving her too much medicine and she sleeps. I always call in the morning and about 7 PM and several times I did not get to speak to her. The aide says the portable phone in her bedroom does not work so if she is laying down it is too hard to get to another phone.

Usually by the 1st of December I am done with Christmas shopping and my cards are ready to be mailed. I have done nothing. I do not have the energy to do it all or even part of it. David and I are going to go up to Mothers Christmas eve and be with her on Christmas.

Please keep us in your prayers. You are all in my prayers. Jeanie :)

:) Hi everyone. The nurse who saw Mother yesterday said her ankles were swollen to a plus 4 pitting edema almost to her knees. She called Mother's doctor and he is to see her this morning and probably will admit her to the hospital. I called Bill and they were in the waiting room of the doctors. He said he would call me.

I really think Mother should have gone to the rehab instead of home and I hope she goes from the hospital back to rehab. Bill says she sleeps a lot and sits in the chair and drools. She was much more active in the rehab.

I will post when I learn more. David sees the doctor on Monday and is back on 1/2 dose of chemo until then. My cough is a little better.

Sally do you get to see your dog? I am glad you got a kitty. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, I hope your Mother is better soon and goes back to rehab.

I chose just to get pictures now and then, of doggie, because it would be like parting again to see him and hold him. And, it would be sad and confusing for him. He'd probably be really hurt, smelling cat on me.
