    Original Antigenic Sin

Some of this is over my head but it seems to offer a possible explanation for why we have MS.

I had mononeucleosis as a teenager. Epstein-Barr virus has been established as one of the diseases that lays the groundwork for MS.

I didn't visit the old board often enough to know if this had been posted here already. Hope someone else finds it interesting.

I don't remember these articles in particular, and the old board threads aren't so easy to get at any more.

There were occasional discussions of Epstein-Barr virus.

Here is a link to something I happened to find recently from PubMed, an abstract of an article, "Epstein-Barr virus in the multiple sclerosis brain: A controversial issue..." in Brain, August 16:

I guess I'm not keeping up with recent developments then. Nevertheless, they still don't know the cause(s). Sigh.

It looks to me as if the articles you posted are very helpful and timely. The idea of a link between Epstein-Barr link and MS is still a very hot topic, I think.

I'm hoping to understand the first article better after I read it over a few more times.
