We have made the national news with the weather here in Atlanta. It started snowing yesterday at 1:00 and everybody left work and school to go home at the same time. The interstate was a parking lot after the road iced and many cars were stranded on the sides of the interstate which runs through Atlanta. It is still freezing today and the roads are still shut down. Maybe after some sun tomorrow people will be able to get to their cars. A lot of people spent the night in cars, fire stations, restaurants, etc. and children were also on school buses still trying to get home. My brother lives in Alabama and it is the same over there. I'm fine as I got groceries in on Monday and so far I still have heat and power.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be better when the sun starts to melt the ice.

    Blessings,
    Gabriella

Snow and ice in an area that is not accustomed to it IS a major problem. I saw an interview with a road boss that said he was concerned as he had a number of drivers that had never driven a snow plow as they rarely get snow.

I had a thought..........wouldn't it be terrible to get a snow day and have to spend it AT SCHOOL?!?

Up to 29 degrees so Dave decided to wash the salt off the cars which led to the driveway becoming a skating rink!

A long term friend came and got my scooter lift today. Hers is on its last leg.

Finished all but review and clean copy on tax prep. Just have to wait till 2/28 for my appointment with our accountant.

Dad's PSA is continuing to go up. It's back up over 20 as of yesterday ("normal" is under 4). Since all this started to flare and we discovered the Prostate Cancer had spread everywhere, the PSA was as high as 42 and we've gotten it as low as 6.8 but even with the meds that shut off all testosterone (shutting down the Adrenals) and having removed the major source of testosterone production 6 years ago, this bones are riddled. He is getting weaker by the day. Everytime we try to have "the talk" about how far he wants to go with treatment and side effects, he changes the topic. "I have good insurance and I don't pay much of anything for my treatment" (even though it costs over $8000/month). "It really doesn't matter if I continue to do the treatments the dr says are the next step (total body radiation) the Good Lord will stop my breathing when he feels I've stuck around long enough." "My level of education and understanding is certainly not the same as yours or the Dr so I let the Dr do what he wants to." (uh...how did I get booted out of that equation????)

        Keep warm everyone.

When my dad was being stubborn about a non life threatening procedure or vague about some other health predicament, I would ask him if it would improve the quality of his life. That always sped up his decision- whichever option he chose. And he was the doctor (enter chuckle here).

          Take care of yourself, Cherie.

:) Hi everyone. I had a great day today. My son Andy and his wife Jamie and I went to the state fair. We saw an ice show and of course had fair food. After seeing everything we left and Jamie stayed to do more.

I ate a corn dog, a gyro, boiled peanuts and a snow cone. To heck with dieting at the fair. We were there about 4 hours and that was enough for me. I am tired but glad that we went. 700 people became US citizens at 2 PM in a nice ceremony.

It was cloudy but in the high 70;s and the sun did come out about 2 and stayed out. Yesterday we had rain all day and into this morning. I am glad it quit raining so we could go.

I'm glad to see so many people checking in here. I feel like I know many of you fairly well and we miss you when you don't post. Jeanie :)

              Renee,
Despite the fact that he says he's not afraid of death, we all think he is. He thinks he will probably just go to sleep and not wake up and save himself from making any decisions but mother is wearing out with the last 19 months of intense care giving. He did say he's taken care of his own catheter bags for the past couple of days. Grrrrr....

              Jeanie,
I've never heard of a rair in the middle of the winter! Winter festivals yes, but not State Fairs. Glad you got the time to enjoy it. How is Jamie feeling these days?

Does it seem like tomorrow is February already?

:) Hi everyone. Cherie I am sorry about your Dad going downhill. Tomorrow will be one year since David died. The house is very quiet with David and the dog gone.

Jamie is doing good but she has gone vegan and has lost a lot of muscle. Andy is trying to get her to drink protein drinks. But she is very stubborn and thinks she knows it all. I got the impression that all is not great at their place. Andy said he just leaves the room when she gets too bossy.

I did enjoy the day though. I feel for all of you with the snow. The one time I was in it it was scary walking on it. Jeanie :)
