    Unpronounceable MS drugs

The MS Association of America has put out a summary of existing MS drugs as well as MS drugs under development. A link to it is posted in the Useful Websites sticky thread at the top of the page.

Trying to pronounce some of them will be a challenge for anyone, especially for those with MS-related speech problems:

    secukinumab
    firategrast
    idabenone
    masitinib
    ocrelizumab
    ofatumumab
Tcelna (formerly Tovaxin but that must have been too easy to say)
    SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

One thing I look at, even if I can't pronounce the name, is the end of the word. If it ends in-"mab" it is a monoclonal antibody. Those can cause PML. Good to know this right away.

They all sound scary to me, unnatural and to be avoided,
unless you will die without them.

Firategrast sounds like a monster's name.

Wow, crazy names for drugs that I don't want to try!
We could get some use out of them by making a fun game . . . let's see . . . how many real words can be made using letters out of the drug name "secukinumab".
              Howie should enjoy this one!
I'll start . . . suck, (that was the first word I saw when I looked at that drug name . . . what does that say about me?) numbs, mask, bums, skum, banks, smack . . . . . He who uses the most letters wins!
Heck, then we could go on to make Haikus out of them! Imagine the possibilities!

How about using it in a sentence? "I was absolutely firategrasted by his rudeness!"

Or a swearword that would get past the censors?

                      Oh, Crelizumab!

(I'm just guessing on where the accent goes.)

Indulging in silliness here. But sometimes you just have to get a few laughs out of this stuff.

My dad worked for a pharmaceutical company, and he was like a walking PDR. Knew everything about every drug. A very smart man.

My mom let me try to eat a bar of soap, and I of course got choked. She panicked and ran to a next door neighbor, me naked and wet, and when I hit that cold, winter air, I started breathing again.

And that's the story of why I like wearing a thong, even in Winter.

Yep, I have sweet memories of eating soap immediately after uttering naughty words as a child. I think it may have caused me to get MS and to develop a warped sense of humor. Idabenone of this if it weren't for the soap.
