OT...sort of. SSusan and I did the first farmers' market together yesterday!

This was the first market this year that was full of customers....and sales! Knowing that Susan and I are a bit less mobile than last year I loaded lighter and sold just as much.

During the market I made decisions and moved product so that placement worked to highlight a plant that had been overlooked. The highlight of my creativity was the pots of basil plants I had made. I called them Basil Samplers and had several kinds of basil in one pot. Italian large leaf green, Italian purple, lemon, Thai, cinnamon....People were thrilled and I sold them all. This was a real success for me. My thinking was clear from planting the seeds to imaging this way to sell more of them.

SSusan was a great help... I could never do as well as I do without her help. Customers all love talking with her about my plants...recipes...life in general. She has not been feeling great for a while but is still very busy. Her hand tremors are more prominent which makes giving customers change a riot! My esophagus spasmed more as I got tired but it does not interfere as long as I do not eat solids. When I get home I use a small Valium to relax the muscles and it works....

All in all, it was a great triumph for both of Us!

Congratulations on the farmer's market success, Linda. I hope you have lots of great weather in the coming season. Lucky shoppers to have access to all those fresh herbs.

Glad to have news about ssusan too though it's too bad about the hand tremors.

I liked hearing, awhile back now, about the figs in the green house, too.

I sold four fig trees last Saturday! We cut the mother tree once a year and make a couple of hundred
Babies. The trees we sell are a couple of feet high, have one thick stem and are already leafing out for this season. Most of my customers will even get a few figs this fall. The type of figs I sell are just wonderful and everyone is happy. The mother trees have thousands of figs on them which are getting bigger every day.

My GM and Mom, Made fig bars every Christmas Eve. I hated them, but learned
to love them as I got older. I didn't like fig neutons, as a kid either. I guess
it must be an adult taste.

So glad that your Farmers Market, with Ssusan, was a success this year.

Sally, I'm not sure if fig anything is an adult thing. Unlike you, I did like fig newtons as a kid.
Actual figs I never had until I was an adult. They are delicious.

I do know that tastes change as we get older. There are several things I didn't like when I was younger, but do like now.
